Good things take time, so buckle up for the long haul.

I did chatarunga with my knees down hundreds of times before I could ever do a single arm balance. I fell out of bakasana over and over before I could hold it long enough to work on headstands. Get clear on what you want, and then get really damn determined to get it. 👏🏽

And yall, an unexpected thing that’s helped me over the years work consistently on the …is learning to love myself enough to be disciplined. The kind of self love that says I deserve a healthy body, I deserve to be strong, I deserve to feel good. Inner child healing type of s**t.

Joy is underrated medicine.
People get so obsessed with becoming better that we forget the beauty of where we are now.

I see it all the time…on and off the mat.
We’re so deep in the work of growing and striving to do things perfectly, that if we mess up we hate ourselves for it. But tell me when, other than within the walls of the yoga studio, do a group of grown adults practice balancing their entire bodies on their two little hands…or take savasana naps with blankets and pillows?

If you can’t find that to be already amazing in itself, I don’t know what to tell you! We’re in here learning ridiculous poses. The world around us, also ridiculous. It doesn’t benefit us to set these insanely high expectations of ourselves and then mentally berate our bodies for falling short. It *does benefit us to bring some levity into the practice space. Detach from the outcome. Throw away your guilt & shame. Break the mental chains telling you over and over that you’re not good enough. Lay that s**t down.

You can nail every pose and still miss the point. You can have a perfect handstand and still be a 🫏 🍑.

Yoga is about contemplation: connection with your heart and your higher power. Staying grounded. At Shanti we keep it intentionally minimalist- no mirrors or playlists, just practice. Just internal focus. Just peace from within.

Real progress happens (yes physical progress is valid too!!) when your heart opens. And when you share that goodness with a world that really needs it.

As our yoga family grows, we know you’ll keep growing with us 🤍 so we’re thrilled to tell you that starting tomorrow…

Elevate your up dog!

Does upward facing dog feel like 💩? It doesn’t have to! Try:

-engaging your legs! 💪🏽
-pushing through your hands to help lift your chest
-internal shoulder rotation for a deeper stretch in you upper back, instead of dumping into the lumbar

We do this pose all the time, and it can be your best friend or worst enemy. Alignment & technique make all the difference y’all.
