Hello Friends!!
It’s that time of year again! I’m raising money for The Down Syndrome Diagnosis Network (DSDN) in honor of World Down Syndrome Day, which is celebrated on 3/21.
Why is down syndrome celebrated on March 21? Glad you asked! People with Down Syndrome have three copies of the 21st chromosome, 3–21 ☺️
What’s the easiest way to honor 3.21? ROCK YOUR SOCKS!! You’ll often see people sporting mismatched or wacky socks on WDSD to spark conversations about Down syndrome. But why the socks? Because chromosomes look like little socks!!
Every year, in honor of World DS Day, I reach out to my friends and family to sponsor socks for Sammy’s class and his phenomenal teachers and team of therapists and helpers. In the past, it was through an organization called PALS socks that partnered with DSDN, but that organization is no longer in business, so I’m doing things a little differently. I am still seeking sponsors, but will purchase socks separately and all funds collected will be donated to DSDN.
DSDN holds a very dear place in my heart. The organization was founded by other “Rockin” moms (their kids rock an extra chromosome) on a mission to support families receiving a Down Syndrome diagnosis. Through a community-driven approach, DSDN connects expectant and new parents — and the medical professionals who serve them — with resources, information, and a network of support. From personalized online groups to parent retreats, DSDN fosters a community where parents can find understanding, connection, and empowerment.
Together we can make a lasting impact! Your generosity allows DSDN to continue supporting families from diagnosis and beyond!
If you would like to sponsor socks, I am asking for $10/pair, but any amount is welcome and appreciated! Please send funds to my Venmo and label it “Socks for Sammy.” In the past I’ve raised enough for ALL of Sammy’s classmates and I’m hoping we can do that again for Sam’s last year at Deans Mill School!!
