Day 8 home. Day 872 since I first went to the hospital. (Ok 21 days) but still 😫

Over the past couple weeks many of you have asked how I’m doing.

Recovery has been slower and more complicated than I expected.
After a few days of my rather intense headache increasingly getting worse, I went back to the hospital for a spinal patch in hopes to clot the CFS leak. Thankfully that procedure helped about 60%, and I’m still navigating headaches, intense ringing in my ears, and very limited movement while my body heals. But even a littler relief from the throbbing headache is HUGE right now.

It’s been humbling.
Some days my “practice” looks like a short walk.
Some days it looks like rolling out my mat and realizing rest is the better choice.

Healing is teaching me — again — that sustainable movement matters.
The kind of practice that meets us where we are, not where we think we should be. And the depth of that flucuates within the seasons of our lives.

Many of you have reached out asking how you can support me during this time while I’m unable to teach or work and much of my income is temporarily paused.

The most meaningful way you can help right now is simply by practicing with me.

My Sustainable Yoga Series was created for exactly this kind of approach to movement — building strength, mobility, and resilience in a way that supports the body for the long run.
If you feel called to support my healing season, you can access the series through the link in my bio.

I’ve also created two optional support codes you can use if they feel aligned:
SUPPORT100
SUPPORT150
Use them or don’t — the invitation is simply to practice together.

Thank you for the messages, prayers, meals, flowers and kindness so many of you have already shared. I’m deeply grateful.

Right now my focus is simple:
heal, listen, and slowly rebuild.
Peace & Light ✌🏼

That name of the song says it all, for real.

I spent 11 days in the hospital fighting bacterial meningitis and septic blood.
Even writing that still feels surreal.

What I keep coming back to is gratitude.

Gratitude for knowing my body well enough to recognize that something was terribly wrong and to seek help when I did. Doctors later told me that waiting even a little longer could have led to a very different outcome.

Now the healing continues at home.
For the next four weeks I’m connected my “backpack” — daily IV antibiotics through a PICC line while my body continues to recover.

Movement is extremely limited for now, and I’m probably operating at about 40% of my usual strength.
For someone who teaches movement, that’s humbling.
But this is where the real practice begins.
Listening.
Slowing down.
Respecting the pace of healing.
I’m incredibly grateful to still be here.
Thank you to everyone who reached out with messages, prayers, support, meals and treats in the hospital.
It meant more than I can express.
More soon as I continue to heal. 🫶🏼🧘🏼‍♀️

Most women I work with aren’t unmotivated.
They’re disconnected from themselves.
They’re moving through the motions of life…
taking care of everyone else…
and quietly losing their strength, breath, and sense of identity along the way.
Your body feels stiff.
Your energy feels low.
You don’t feel like you anymore.
That’s not failure.
That’s what happens when you live on autopilot for too long.
Sustainable practice isn’t about doing more.
It’s about coming back to yourself — consistently, gently, and with intention.
This is the work I care about most right now.
If this resonates, stay here. We’re going deeper this month.

These are the hip openers I return to every ski season.
Not to stretch more — but to move better.
When your hips are both mobile and stable, everything downstream works more efficiently: ankles, knees, balance, and power through each ski.
And while there’s so much more than these five postures, this is where it starts.
Small, intentional movement. Repeated daily. Habits that build into a sustainable practice — one that supports your sport and your life.
Yoga isn’t separate from your sport.
It’s what supports it.
