π€‘Myth: You will be turned away without health insurance.
Fact: Under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA), hospitals are legally required to provide a medical screening and stabilization treatment for anyone who needs emergency care, regardless of their ability to pay or their insurance status.
π€‘Myth: You should not take medication before coming to the ER.
Fact: It is generally a good idea to treat your symptoms at home with appropriate medication, such as using a fever reducer. You are not "proving" your symptoms by waiting for them to get worse. However, be sure to inform the medical staff what medication you have taken and when.
