Happy 8th Anniversary, AYN! was founded through dedication and the pursuit of correct knowledge. It is my genuine and humble honor to be a teacher and to continue sharing the traditions of yoga. Thank you to all the students who have practiced at AYN over there years.

Guru Purnima is tomorrow on the full moon. It’s a day to honor the guru. It’s the first year for me to recognize this significant day in the absence of Sharath, my guru. He and my other mentors have always said knowledge is eternal and there to be discovered. A guru is not worshipped but someone with correct knowledge and can shine a light on your path. It’s up to you from there. Even in his absence I continue to be a student of Sharath and learn from his teachings just as he did from his guru, his grand father, as he did from Krishnamacharya before him. This passing of knowledge through a lineage is called parampara.

I am forever a student and grateful for guidance on this journey. I hold my guru in my heart every day. The knowledge he shared with me has shaped my life.

Tomorrow is the (full) moon. Take rest. Take time for reflection. 🙏

Thank you for practicing with me and allowing me to share what I’ve learned with you and shine a little light on your path. Let’s keep practicing - the correct knowledge is there for each of us. Keep seeking. 🙏🩷

Hello New Moon Day 🌑

Remember that taking time to rest is an essential part of the Ashtanga Practice. It is important to rest at the end of every practice, during new moons, full moons, and at the beginning of your menstrual cycle as needed. Traditionally, in the Ashtanga Method, there is no asana practice on the new moon, so it's a good idea to take it easy during this time. These periods of rest give us the chance to tune into our body's natural rhythms. By consistently taking these rest days, we can better understand how they contribute to a calmer and more peaceful state of being.

If you are to practice asana on these days choose postures that are of a gentle nature like Child's Pose.
