The Denial Management Counseling (DMC) Facilitator Guide - https://bit.ly/4rxgAb3

The main purpose of the Denial Management Counseling Facilitator Guide is to assist professionals in earning their credentials as a Gorski-CENAPS Certified Denial Management Specialist (CDMS). There are multiple ways to earn this certification listed on the Gorski-CENAPS website at www.cenaps.com/CDMS

Regardless if you are working on the certification or are using the guide to increase your clinical skills, the best way to benefit is to start by thoroughly reading and understanding the material with an open mind.

This book serves two primary purposes:

1) To increase clinicians understanding and ability to recognize when treatment resistance and denial is sabotaging their clients, and

2) To show clinicians how to more effectively assist their clients in getting the most out of completing the DMC Workbook process.

Goals of the DMC Facilitator Guide

* Interrupt patterns of denial.

* Increase recognition of any potential addiction related or other self-defeating life problems.

* Identify real problems and negative consequences from these self-defeating patterns.

* Motivate clients to accept a referral to the next level of recovery/treatment.

This book will systematically guide clinicians through a series of tools that can be used to effectively manage denial. First, we will review the need for a denial management system, define denial, explain its dynamics, and identify the common denial patterns used by many people going through treatment. We will explore the levels of denial by explaining how denial is related to a lack of information, conscious defensiveness, unconscious defense mechanisms, and delusions.
