This campaign was started to bring awareness to in Turkey after a young woman named Pinar Gültekin was found murdered 5 days after being reported missing in Turkey 💔 Turkey has one of the highest rates of femicide in the world. Turkish women regularly see black & white images of women who have been killed on the news. The campaign draws attention to this issue. Thank you to for sharing this information.

🎇 Please be safe around fireworks & sparklers!⠀
😎 Use eye protection if possible. Anything is better than nothing, think swim goggles or sunglasses.⠀

F A C T S⠀
❤️ 19% of fireworks injuries were eye injuries.⠀
🤍 In the severe cases, fireworks can rupture the globe of the eye, cause chemical and thermal burns, corneal abrasions and retinal detachment — all of which can cause permanent eye damage and vision loss. ⠀
💙 The most severe injuries can result in losing your eye 😱 (a surgery that I perform as an Oculoplastic surgeon).⠀
❤️ Children age 15 and under accounted for 36% of the total injuries.⠀
🤍 Even sparklers can be dangerous, as they burn at more than 2,000 degrees Farenheit. ⠀
💙 65% of people injured by fireworks were bystanders.⠀

if you suffer a fireworks-related eye injury?⠀
❤️ Seek medical attention immediately.⠀
🤍 Do not rub your eyes.⠀
💙 Do not rinse your eyes.⠀
❤️ Do not apply pressure.⠀
🤍 Do not remove any objects that are stuck in the eye.⠀
💙 Do not apply ointments or take any blood-thinning pain medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen unless directed by a doctor.⠀

☀️ MAY is skin cancer awareness month & somehow this month has flown by!⠀⠀
🎯 I love ( x 💯) the target dollar spot but definitely passed on this hat!⠀⠀
🙏🏻 Oculofacial plastic surgeons like Dr. Vargason work very closely with Dermatologists to treat skin cancers of the eyelids.⠀⠀
🦠 During the COVID pandemic, we have been taking care of these issues:⠀
▪️Rare & fast growing skin cancers on the eyelid.⠀
▪️Skin cancer growing into the eye socket.⠀
▪️After removal of large skin cancers on the head or face (by an Ear Nose & Throat surgeon), the eyelids don’t always function well enough to protect the eyeball... We perform procedures to help protect the eye surface.⠀⠀
🧴 Please wear sunscreen & have any eyelid (or anywhere else) bumps 🐪 checked by a Dermatologist!

Oculofacial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in Idaho’s Treasure Valley.

Dr. Caroline Vargason is an Oculofacial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon based in Nampa, Idaho.

Dr. Vargason grew up in upstate New York, then traversed the country for medical education. Her specialized training included a two year American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) Fellowship with Jeff Nerad at the Cincinnati Eye Institute. Dr. Vargason is one of only two ASOPRS-trained surgeons in the Treasure Valley. She is a published author of research articles and textbook chapters in the field.

Dr. Vargason moved to Boise in 2018 to be close to family, who are Idaho City natives. She joined Jensen Eye Associates in June 2019. Her practice involves treating cosmetic and reconstructive issues of the eyelid, face, tear duct and eye socket. She is known for her keen aesthetic eye and dedication to the highest patient care standards.

Outside the office, Dr. Vargason enjoys mountain biking and snowboarding with her husband Kyle. She can also be found chasing her toddler daughter Austin and mini goldendoodle dog Jensen around the Boise Foothills.
