Birth should be one of your greatest accomplishments, not one of your greatest fears. My approach to childbirth is based on the innate ability of women to give birth. Modern women must rediscover and trust this innate ability. Modern knowing involves making informed decisions based on knowledge of alternatives. Every woman should have the opportunity to give birth as she wishes in an environment that supports her physical and emotional needs. During childbirth education classes I will help you gather the information you need to make informed choices in labor and birth. As your doula I will offer you support before birth to determine what is important to you during birth, during labor I will assist you with comfort measures and productive labor positions, and after birth you will have support breastfeeding and adjusting to life as a new family.

Childbirth education classes begin in early January. This class is designed to talk you through your options around birth, help you develop a plan and what to do if birth doesn’t follow your plan, connects you with other families and resources on island and guaranteed to be a lot of fun.

Wednesdays from 11am-12pm, we invite new parents to the Nantucket Family Resource Center at 1b Freedom Square, to meet with an RN from VNA of Cape Cod, for breast feeding support along with any other questions related to their newborn’s health. Free, confidential, no insurance or appointments required. How awesome is that?!
