Just because your friend grows w**d or your w**d guy still delivers, doesn’t mean it’s clean. There are harmful chemicals in unregulated or “free market” cannabis - like the really bad stuff, that pollute our environment and cause cancer when combusted or taken in concentration.

“I’m a huge proponent of keeping Napa Valley focused on growing wine and the experiences and view-sheds that support that.

We don’t need cannabis gardens next to Robert Mondavi Winery on Hwy 29. But I also believe that all ecosystems benefit from diversity and that people on vacation would love to experience the terroir of our beautiful valley with a walk through a garden that showcases food and cannabis, and a tasting that lends to higher consciousness, connection to the earth (terroir), and offers wellness, not to mention an even greater appreciation for our wine’s nuances ... and a cure for wine-drenched hangovers.

There is a pathway for a few conscious operators to be given guidelines and setbacks to grow medicinal plants that don’t interfere with the wine country experience - especially ones that give new consumers another good reason to come here, and to Napa loyalists to keep coming back.”

New land-use regulations are being considered in Sonoma County, but Napa and Marin counties are turning cold shoulder to allowing this aspect of California’s evolving legal industry.
