Chief Administrative and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Amy Herold recently attended Congressman Mike Thompson's annual Napa Summer Dinner where she had the opportunity to meet with several national policymakers.

The bipartisan event focused on issues impacting Bay Area residents and the State of California as a whole, including H.R. 1, which includes $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

The event came on the heels of a roundtable discussion hosted by Providence Queen of the Valley with Congressman Mike Thompson in July, where Dr. Herold joined numerous local health care leaders to provide an expert voice on the potential impacts of the bill.

“It was an honor to be part of the roundtable discussion and hear thoughtful perspectives from across the Napa County health care ecosystem. We are grateful to have these strong community partners alongside us as we all address this challenge and forge a path forward,” Dr. Herold shared.

Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center recently hosted a free doula training for Spanish speakers.

Launched in response to a shortage of Spanish-speaking doulas accepting Medi-Cal patients in Napa, Providence was proud to be the sole funder as part of our commitment to foster health equity.

“From reducing cesarean rates to shortening length of labor, doulas are our partners in the birthing suite. With this program, we sought to improve access to doula care services, which has been a challenge for members of the Latino community with Medi-Cal,” said Amy Herold, M.D., a practicing OB/GYN, chief administrative officer and chief medical officer at the hospital.

Thank you to our partners who made this initiative possible: First 5 Napa County, Health and Human Services Agency, Napa County, Cope Family Center, Partnership HealthPlan of California, Doula Doula, CommuniCare+OLE Napa and Puertas Abiertas Community Resource Center.

Heartwarming news for Lake Berryessa residents! ❤️ Turtle Rock Bar and Café, located in remote Lake Berryessa, now has a life-saving AED unit on-site.

When Janice Casey, a local woman, exhibited signs of a cardiac event at Turtle Rock, it highlighted the critical need for an AED in this area where an ambulance can take around 40 minutes to arrive.🚑

“It made me realize how vulnerable residents in this area are,” said Michele White, a Providence Queen of the Valley caregiver who was dining at the restaurant and assessed Janice. "When someone has cardiac arrest...time is of the essence. 🏥

Generous donations to Queen of the Valley Foundation made this possible. If it were not for the support of our community, we would not be able to maintain this life-saving equipment and education.

Read the full story and learn how to donate an AED through the Queen’s Heart Safe program, which has placed 200 units across Napa County since 2012: http://provhealth.org/6181s6vWS
