🥕👩‍🍳Here’s a sweet way to sneak in some extra veggies. These energy bites are packed with deliciousness and nutrition – without any cooking!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Carrot Cake Energy Balls⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
(makes about 18)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
● 1 cup (160 grams) chopped, pitted dates⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
● ½ cup (40 grams) rolled oats (not instant)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
● ¼ cup (30 grams) chopped walnuts⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
● ¼ cup (36 grams) of either flax or chia seeds⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
● 2 medium carrots, finely chopped⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
● 1 tsp vanilla extract⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
● 1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
● ¼ teaspoon pink Himalayan salt⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
● Pinch of ground pepper⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
● OPTIONAL: 1-2 scoops vanilla protein powder⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Place the dates, oats, walnuts, and chia seeds in a food processor. Pulse until they are combined. Add the remaining ingredients and process until everything is chopped and the texture is almost smooth.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Note: if you’re using the protein powder, you might need to add water to get the proper consistency – just a couple of drops at a time!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Create the balls by scooping out 1 tablespoon at a time, and rolling until a ball is formed.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

These will keep covered in an airtight container in the fridge for about a week, or in the freezer for 3-4 months. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If you have been missing him, its because he has spent the last 18 months in a 1250 hour program through the National Holistic Institute, which he completed last week! He can now add Certified Massage Therapist / Neuromuscular Therapist to his hefty list of accomplishments! 🏃‍♀‍Checking your heart rate during your workouts helps you to know if you’re working hard enough – but not TOO hard.

✅Tracking your heart rate is easy, as nearly every fitness watch and activity tracker measures it. It matters because when you work within your target zones, it can help boost your fitness fast!

🍕Q: I work out regularly so I can enjoy my favorite foods. Does it really matter what I eat, as long as I don’t eat too much?!

✅A: Hate to break it to you, but YES!

I hear this question all the time, and I totally get it. Food is often valued by how many calories it contains.

🔥But your food is WAY MORE than its calories! It plays a big role in your overall health.

Some foods – especially veggies, lean proteins, healthy fats, and unprocessed grains – contain more of the nutrients and micronutrients you need to be healthy…

AND fight inflammation in your body.

And other foods – mainly high-sugar, high-fat, high-salt, and highly processed ones – contain a lot of empty calories that can actually PROMOTE inflammation in your body. 😱😱😱

They can slow down your workout recovery AND you might even notice more aches and pains when you eat them!

😍But that doesn’t mean you can NEVER have your favorite foods.

💡Just make sure you eat a good “base” of healthy foods – 80% to 90% of your overall diet. Then, you won’t feel guilty if you indulge in an occasional treat. 🍫

⭐NOTE: Keep your goals in mind because portion sizes still matter!

🌙One of the best ways to train yourself to get a good night’s sleep is to follow a regular sleep schedule.

🔥OVERSHARING ALERT! 🔥

🙄Are there certain foods that leave you feeling bloated and blah? I definitely have some – Cheese, Ice Cream, Beans, even some Fruit....

Did you know that digestive issues impact a LOT of people – in fact, as we get older, some say 40% of people report symptoms every year!

💡Here’s how I deal with bloating 🤫

First, I try to avoid getting bloated in the first place if at all possible. I stay away from foods that make me feel that way. If I DO get bloated, I drink a lot of water with lemon, get in a light workout or go for a walk and sometimes take a charcoal supplement.

✅If you suffer from bloating or other digestion issues regularly, taking time to figure out what foods bother you is SO WORTH IT – and so is figuring out what helps you feel better afterward.

And also be sure to tell your healthcare provider about it at your next visit if it becomes a problem.
