👉 Okay, ready? Here are 4️⃣ Flu Myths that we are happy to debunk:

⛔️ Myth: The flu is just a bad cold.
✅ Fact: While the flu and the common cold share some similar symptoms, flu is caused by a different virus and is often more severe—and potentially deadly.

⛔️ Myth: You can’t spread the flu if you don’t have symptoms.
✅ Fact: You can spread the flu virus to others before having symptoms.

⛔️ Myth: You can get the flu from a flu shot.
✅ Fact: Flu vaccines do not contain live viruses and cannot make you sick. You may experience some mild symptoms (soreness, low grade fever, muscle aches).

⛔️ Myth: You don’t need to get a flu vaccine every year.
✅ Fact: Protection from the vaccine declines over time, so an annual vaccine is needed to provide the best protection.

But if your situation has changed, you might be interested in one of the more satisfying uses for life insurance you no longer need—donating it to Community Health Napa Valley.

👉 One little-known fact: life insurance is a contract and can’t be changed by heirs. If you make Community Health Napa Valley policy owner and beneficiary, it’s not included in probate and remains confidential. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3zirqvw.

Children often process grief differently than teenagers or adults. They may lack the vocabulary to articulate their emotions, and some may initially seem unaffected, only to later exhibit regressive behaviors such as thumb-sucking or bed-wetting.

Tender Steps is a specialized grief support program designed for young children navigating these challenging experiences.

This week's session, "Remembering with Love," will be held on Thursday, October 23, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. For further information and registration, please visit: https://bit.ly/3Es2K6i

❓What does a will do? Only you know the special circumstances of your family members and heirs, so it is important to discuss these factors with your estate planning attorney. However, commonly a will:

✅ Names the executor or personal representative of your estate
✅ Gives your property to those you choose, including gifts to nonprofit organizations
✅ Sets up trusts to save on taxes and provides financial management
✅ Names a guardian for minor children, or caregivers for pets
✅ Ensures lifetime care for a child with a disability
✅ Sets guidelines for distributions if you and your spouse die at the same time

Here's a link to a Planning Toolkit--yours to use for FREE: https://bit.ly/4ahVRhT.

📖 Did you know? Two out of three Americans believe they should have a will by age 55 (or sooner). However…more than 68% of U.S. adults lack a will!

👉 Enter National Estate Planning Awareness Week, starting today! You don’t have to have an “estate” as such to draw up a will—and this a timely reminder that we all need to prepare for the inevitable. The week is about drawing up the most important document of your life: a will that protects your interests—and those of your loved ones.

In the coming days, we’ll focus on the details of making a will and some options you have to support the causes you love. 💜

🚫 👀 Has your bank closed one of its branches in recent years? According to American Banker, major banks closed roughly one in 10 branches in 2023 alone.

▶️ Why does this matter? Because people forget they have safe deposit boxes in these banks—and the banks might not alert you that you have an unclaimed box. (The under-reported process of handling unclaimed safe deposit boxes is called “escheatment.”)

If you have a safe deposit box that you haven't visited in years—consider giving your bank a call and verify its status. It might be worth the piece-of-mind.
