Napa Valley Support Services creates pathways for adults with developmental disabilities to live, work, and thrive as valued members of our community. They provide job training, paid employment, and opportunities for artistic expression through our inclusive art gallery. They help over 200 individuals each year gain skills, confidence, and independence. Families find peace of mind knowing their loved ones are supported, safe, and connected.

The Napa Valley Cowboy Christmas Artisan Market is happening this Saturday, December 6th, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at 1200 Foster Road, Napa. Happy International Day of Persons with Disabilities! We wanted to share a quick story about one of our wonderful participants who is part of our employment program, NPS.
Sammy was referred to NPS by the Napa Department of Rehabilitation, DOR in Dec. 2024 for employment services. Sammy had just recently moved back to CA from TX, where she previously worked at the VA in Houston, and was eager to find a new job.

NPS staff assisted Sammy with a Situational Assessment in the NPS office to assess her strengths and found she had many that would make her a good employee. NPS staff assisted Sammy with updating her resume, interview preparation, the importance of confidentiality, office etiquette/professionalism and increased her typing speed.

When a State Internship Program (SIP) opportunity arose in the Napa DOR Office, NPS staff assisted her in applying and interviewing. She was offered the 512-hour Internship and began in Sept. 2025. These clerical internships typically last six months to a year and provide valuable experience including data entry, front desk/customer service, mail runs, and answering phones. Upon completion of the internship, interns acquire a LEAP certificate from the state which gives individuals a foot in the door when applying for permanent state jobs.

NPS has provided Sammy with a Job Coach to continue the duration of her internship to help insure her success. We are so proud of her! Way to go Sammy!
