for the repair & healing. ❤️🩹
A wound can be thought of like a tiny battlefield. First comes the fiery surge of inflammation, a necessary but potentially destructive force. Then, oxidative stress throws its chaotic punches, disrupting the delicate balance. Meanwhile, the immune system orchestrates its complex maneuvers, and finally, the slow, deliberate work of tissue regeneration begins.
Topical application of an ointment containing 10% frankincense EO improved wound healing in a preclinical model. The oil reduced inflammation (cytokines IL-1β and TNF-α), quenched oxidative stress, and reduced the unnecessary death of cells at the wound site (suppressed aspase-3). Furthermore, frankincense EO promoted wound contraction by encouraging new skin cells to cover the wound and boosting collagen production.
