Yoga Retreat Specialist | A 40-Hour Path to Leading with Clarity and Confidence

There is a moment in every teacher’s path when the desire to go deeper begins to take shape.

Not just to teach a class, but to guide an experience.
Not just to practice yoga, but to live it in a way that can be shared with others.

Leading a retreat is often where that calling begins to surface.

At Edge Yoga School, the Yoga Retreat Specialist training is designed as a 40-hour continuing education pathway for teachers who are ready to step into that role with intention. Structured into four 10-hour modules, this training offers both flexibility and depth, allowing teachers to build the skills needed to design, lead, and share meaningful retreat experiences.

This is not about adding more to your plate.
It is about refining what is already within your practice.

Retreat Design and Experience Flow

A retreat is more than a collection of classes. It is a rhythm.

This module explores how to create a cohesive experience from beginning to end. Teachers learn how to shape the flow of each day, balancing movement, rest, and reflection. Themes begin to emerge, and the environment itself becomes part of the teaching.

Rather than filling time, you learn to guide an experience that feels both intentional and spacious.

Leadership and Holding Space

Leading a retreat requires a different kind of presence.

You are guiding a group over several days, often in a new setting, with a range of personalities and needs. This module focuses on developing grounded leadership. You refine your voice, establish boundaries, and learn how to support your students without overextending yourself.

Holding space becomes an act of awareness. You learn when to lead, when to listen, and when to allow the experience to unfold.

Logistics and Organization

Behind every seamless retreat is thoughtful preparation.

This module covers the practical systems that support your work. From booking and pricing to communication and timelines, you gain clarity on what it takes to bring a retreat to life.

When logistics are handled well, they become invisible. The experience feels calm, supported, and intentional—for both you and your students.

Visual Storytelling for Retreat Leaders

A retreat is lived in the moment, but it is also remembered and shared.

This module introduces visual storytelling as an extension of your practice. You are not learning to become a photographer. You are learning to see.

Through simple, accessible techniques, you learn how to capture meaningful moments without disrupting the experience. Light, presence, and timing become tools for awareness.

For many teachers, marketing can feel uncomfortable. Visual storytelling offers a different approach. When you share what is real, you are not promoting—you are inviting.

A Flexible and Integrated Path

Each module within the Yoga Retreat Specialist training is offered as a 10-hour continuing education course, allowing teachers to move at a pace that aligns with their schedule and goals.

Together, the four modules form a complete 40-hour training.

Teachers may choose to complete the full program or engage with individual modules based on their needs. Each offers practical tools and embodied learning that can be applied immediately.

This flexibility supports a range of students, from those just beginning to explore retreats to those ready to lead their own.

Artistry in Practice

At its core, this training reflects a simple idea.

Your practice is not separate from your work.
It is the foundation of it.

Designing a retreat, leading a group, organizing the details, and sharing the experience are all expressions of the same path.

This is artistry in practice.

Don’t give up your gym membership…join their team and get paid to go

Gas is pushing $5 a gallon… I get it.

A lot of people are starting to cut back on the very things that help them feel good, like their gym membership. But what if you didn’t have to give it up?

What if you could step into those same spaces, stay connected to your routine, and get paid to be there?

If you’ve ever thought about teaching yoga, this is a really natural way to begin.

Our monthly yoga teacher training gives you a flexible, supported path to build real teaching experience while continuing to live your life. You don’t need to stop everything or make a huge upfront investment. You simply begin, grow, and build over time.

Instead of paying to go, you may find yourself stepping into opportunities where you are part of the community in a more meaningful way.

Register for your first webinar and select the $108 tuition ticket to begin. As always, you can attend our field trips ala carte to earn hours faster. You decide.

💕 This has been on my heart.

My sister spent the last year of her life with her eyes glued to the news. Not her grandkids. Not the small, ordinary moments that actually make up a life. The news.

And I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately.

We are living in a time where the political divide is no longer just “out there.” It’s in our homes. It’s in our families. It’s in the way we speak to one another, or don’t.

At the same time, data centers are being built. Technology is moving forward. AI is not a maybe. It is happening. The library of the future is being written right now, in real time, by all of us.

Every post. Every comment. Every tone.

This matters.

Because what we contribute becomes part of the dataset that future generations will learn from. It becomes the reflection of who we were, how we treated one another, and what we believed was acceptable.

So I keep coming back to this:

ahimsa = non harming

Not just in action, but in language
Not just in person, but online
Not just with strangers, but with family

And yoga, at its essence, asks us to be a peaceful warrior.

Not passive
Not silent
But steady, grounded, and rooted in awareness

There is a way to hold perspective without harming
There is a way to speak without dividing
There is a way to disagree without disconnecting

Right now, a lot of the loudest voices shaping our shared space carry a very strong, forceful energy. There is drive, certainty, and intensity. But without balance, that energy can become sharp.

We need more feminine energy in the mix.

Not as a replacement, but as a balance.

Listening
Softening
Holding space
Pausing before reacting
Choosing connection over being right

This is not about stepping away from important conversations. It is about how we enter them.

Because the future is not just being built through infrastructure and systems. It is being shaped through tone, presence, and intention.

And if we are not mindful, we risk creating a world that forgets how to be human with one another.

So today, this is my practice:

To speak with care
To listen with patience
To remember what actually matters
To be a peaceful warrior in how I show up

I invite you to contribute in a meaningful way. Leave the noise falling on deaf ears. Thanks to those of you who are already doing so.

M.

There’s something I’ve been quietly building behind the scenes at Edge Yoga School

The Onyx Series

These are not required trainings
They are not something you have to keep up with

They are spaces you can step into when you’re ready

I’ve now opened the Onyx Series as part of our Ayurvedic Teacher Training (ATT) pathway as bonus, à la carte hours for those who want to go a little deeper

This means you can come to labs, join webinars, and when it feels right…enter into a more sensory, integrative space of practice

Onyx is where we slow down

Where tea is poured

Where the subtle body is felt, not just studied

Where rest becomes part of the learning

These sessions are designed to support integration, nervous system awareness, and embodied understanding of the material we explore together

You are never required to attend
But you are always welcome

If you’ve been feeling the pull toward a softer, deeper way of learning this is for you

If you’re already in the training you’ll start to see these woven into the rhythm

If you’re considering joining us this is one of the ways we support you beyond the structure of a traditional program

Send me a CHAT if you’re curious about the Ayurvedic Yoga Teacher Training or how Onyx fits into your path

Supporting Hawaii’s Animals During the Storm

As many of you know, Hawaii has recently experienced severe storms and flooding, impacting communities across the islands. Alongside families and homes, many animals have also been displaced, brought into shelters, or are in need of care and support.

At Edge Yoga School & Arts, we believe our practice extends beyond the mat. It is rooted in compassion, community, and meaningful action.

In response, we are offering a simple way to support both.

We invite you to donate to one of the organizations below that are actively supporting animals in Hawaii:

Hawaii Island Humane Society

After you make your donation, Edge Yoga School & Arts will match your contribution in the form of a tuition credit.

Your donation amount will be matched dollar for dollar as a tuition credit, up to a maximum value of $500, to be applied toward any of our training programs.

This is our way of giving back while continuing to support your growth as a student and practitioner.

Send us a CHAT with your receipt to request your tuition credit code

We will issue your code for use toward any eligible Edge Yoga School & Arts program

Together, we can extend care where it is needed most.

If you feel called to help, your support makes a real difference.
