St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Paint the Town Green
Our staff and volunteers came armed with beads, candy and an overflowing pot of St. Patrick’s Residence spirit! If there were an award for "Most Enthusiastic Hand-Waving," our residents would take home the gold. A massive thank you to the West Suburban Irish for putting on such a fantastic parade and to everyone who cheered for St. Patrick’s Residence as we rolled by.

This week, we honor the women and congregations whose courage continues to shape the ministries we steward today. Their stories are not simply history.

They are living blueprints for how faith becomes action and compassion becomes care that lasts.

Some were pioneers who stepped into mission territory when the need was great and the path forward uncertain. Mother Angeline McCrory built a ministry that affirmed the dignity of elders. Elizabeth Bruyère carried mercy into remote communities and created systems that ensured compassion would endure. Mother Cabrini crossed an ocean to serve immigrants in poverty, transforming love into institutions of healing and care.

Others ensured that the mission would endure for generations. The Sisters of St. Basil the Great demonstrate the courage to preserve ministries that serve elders and communities. Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska dared to be prophetic, forming values of dignity, compassion, transformation, solidarity, and justice that continue to guide Felician ministries today.

Together, these women remind us that mission is not only something we begin. It is something we faithfully protect, strengthen, and carry forward.

As Catholic Sisters Week concludes, we reflect on the “Stories of Hope and Heart” that define the lives of women religious. Their decades of faithful service in healthcare and elder care embody perseverance, humility, and deep trust in God’s providence. Through both visible leadership and hidden sacrifice, they have advanced compassion and justice in countless communities. May we continue to serve with the same courage and mercy. 💛🙏

Mary Jo’s words beautifully capture what makes St. Patrick’s Residence so special. The strong sense of spirituality, the kindness of the staff and Sisters, and the support of fellow residents all come together to create a true sense of home.

Every day, the community continues the legacy of compassion and service inspired by Mother Angeline Teresa. We are grateful to share this journey with residents like Mary Jo. 💙

The Works of Mercy are not simply acts of kindness; they are sacred encounters with Christ Himself. When we comfort the sick, feed the hungry, and care for the elderly, we touch the living presence of Our Lord. May our hands reflect His compassion and our hearts remain attentive to the dignity of every soul entrusted to us. 🤲✨
