Feng Shui is the science of the person-place connection. Joan Kaufman ASID,IIDA,FSII provides Space Planning and Design specifically geared to promote health and harmony. Feng Shui is basically an environmental science that is based on interpretation of the natural world that allowed the Chinese to create systems for living in harmony with the natural world in a supportive, thriving manner. It has been practiced for over 3,000 years. Joan Kaufman ASID,IIDA,FSII is a certified practitioner in the Pyramid School of Feng Shui, most used in the West. This philosophy of Feng Shui aims to set Chinese principles of Feng Shui in context and, by using modern examples in conjunction with ancient ones, to devise solutions with meaning in Western culture. Today's lifestyles leave us little time for contemplation of our surroundings and how they affect us. Feng Shui offers a way for us to work with our environment. Through Feng Shui, one can identify underlying obstacles and adjust the environment to overcome them. By creating spaces that balance energies and elements, while respecting our natural environment, we create supportive environments that promote well being. A consultation analyzes the relationship of person to place and provides recommendations that enable individuals to achieve their goals and dreams. A consultation consists of
• Completion of two brief questionnaires
• Identification of your goals in an in-depth meeting that lasts one to two hours
• Photographs and notes taken of your environment
• A written report listing overall objectives, issues and solutions by area
• An in-person review of the report
• A follow-up to monitor goals achieved and, if necessary, suggestions for additional improvements
• An option for you to make the improvements yourself or to use my service of implementing the recommendations for an additional fee
"I will complete an analysis using the principles of Feng Shui, while adhering to the principles of interior design as it relates to proper proportion, aesthetics and taste. Balance will be considered from both viewpoints: proper balance of architectural elements as well as balance of the five elements, qi and yin/yang. Through these recommendations I endeavor to use the principles of interior design to increase my client's sense of well being by creating a visually pleasing environment that satisfies the spirit. I endeavor to use the principles of Feng Shui to affect my client on a much deeper level, to promote lasting contentment, including physical, emotional, and spiritual health."
