Oswald's Pharmacy Serving Naperville since 1875! Oswald’s Pharmacy has been taking care of Naperville residents health care needs for over 140 years! and Gartner Road in 2004.

The pharmacy which originally opened in historic downtown Naperville in 1875, moved to Naperville Plaza at the intersection of Washington St. The Plaza, what many call Naperville’s “new” downtown also has two great grocery stores, Casey’s Foods, Trader Joe’s along with 25 other wonderful stores, restaurants and service business. Oswald’s is a full service pharmacy taking all major insurance plans. We offer free local prescription delivery and are open 7 days a week. In 2015 we added over 4000 square feet of retail space that is now home to Chicago’s largest medical equipment showroom. We carry a full line of medical equipment including wheelchairs, walkers, bathroom safety supplies, lift chairs, scooters, diabetic shoes and socks, Jobst and Medi support hosiery and medical supports and braces. Our card, gift and toy section is the best in the area! We have a huge selection of cards, stationery and gift wrap. Our toy section includes Melissa and Doug, Thomas the Tank Engine, Playmobil, Leggos and Ty plush animals. We also have an extensive line of gifts, Willow Tree figurines, games and puzzles in our beautiful store. For customer convenience, we have a full service United States Post Office where you can mail your packages and buy stamps!

Who remembers our “new” store grand opening back in 2004? Hard to believe it’s already been 21 years since we packed up from our longtime home in Downtown Naperville and rolled a few blocks south to Naperville Plaza. Opening those doors for the first time was a big leap in our 150-year history!

👋 Meet Melissa 👋

Melissa is our friendly and knowledgeable Pharmacy Manager who helps keep everything running smoothly behind the counter. From managing daily operations to filling prescriptions and making sure patients fully understand their medications and any side effects, they’re in good hands with her.

Melissa has a sweet tooth, so her top pick in the store? Haribo Gummies in every form, especially the Smurfs! 🍬💙When she’s not helping patients or sneaking a gummy or two, she loves making soap from scratch. It’s her favorite way to unwind and get creative.

Next time you stop by the pharmacy, be sure to say hello, Melissa’s always happy to help! 😁

Today we’re celebrating Mary’s retirement! If you’ve visited Oswald’s at any point in the last 4 decades, there’s a good chance Mary helped you. First as a high-school clerk in the early ’70s, then returning in 1988 as a pharmacist. She served as our Pharmacist-in-Charge from 1988–2019 and has continued caring for our community as a part-time staff pharmacist ever since!

Across four generations of our family’s ownership, Mary has been a steady hand, a calm voice, and a champion for our patients. We’re endlessly grateful for her dedication. Do you have a favorite memory or a thank-you for Mary? Please share it below so we can share it with her!

From the Naperville Clarion, July 16, 1925! Beside an Ozzie’s ad you’ll find a brief note about Grandpa Oswald, his wife Susie, and their daughter Helen heading east for a drug trade show. The front page even floated renaming “Naperville,” calling it an “insufficient name for a growing, thriving city.” And yes—in 1925, like 2025—mustaches were making a comeback. Here’s a throwback from 1985—our 110th anniversary! Third-generation owner Harold Kester and his grandson, future fifth-generation owner Bill Anderson, are pulling a raffle winner from the basket. Fun fact: the raffle basket came from the Naper Theatre. When the theatre closed in the late 1970s, it was gifted to Ozzie’s.

Have you seen our antique apothecary display by the pharmacy counter? We don’t just stash Ozzie’s 150-year history in a museum—some of it’s still working! The counter installed during the 1960 remodel served three generations and, after our 2004 move to Naperville Plaza, found a second life in our backroom where we still use it to check in product. If only we’d kept the typewriters! Chris is pictured with the well-loved backroom counter today; the earlier photo is from July 1974.
