TGC is a proud supporter of Be Yourself Group , an amazing nonprofit that focuses on helping people with developmental challenges.

This Sunday, we’re bringing the farm to YOU, at the Be Yourself Group’s Trunk or Treat! Come meet one of our equine “therapists”, Oreo 🐴🎃

Oreo is a mini horse who helps children and adults engage in deeper work via experiential learning found in equine therapy and ABA.

Today, Transformative Growth Counseling attended the Executives’ Club of Chicago’s People, Purpose, Planet & Profit Summit 🌍

The summit explored how leaders can uphold social equity, sustainability, and integrity in an uncertain era. Speakers shared how doing the right thing—while balancing responsibility, risk, and resilience—remains essential for building trust and long-term impact.

These conversations inspire TGC’s ongoing mission: to provide accessible, high-quality counseling and community outreach to all people. By learning how organizations can lead with purpose and accountability, we strengthen our own commitment to mental health equity and sustainable growth in the communities we serve 🩵💜

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month 💟
This is a time to stand together, speak out 🗣️, and support those affected by abuse

Domestic violence can happen to anyone, regardless of age, gender, or relationship status

This month, let’s:
⚠️ educate ourselves about the warning signs
👂listen without judgement
💪 remind survivors they are not alone

Small actions, like checking in on a friend or sharing resources, can make a life saving difference

Together, we can help end the cycle of violence

🗣️Words matter when we talk about su***de

❌ Phrases like "committed su***de" carry judgement, linking death by su***de to crime or sin

❌ Saying "failed" or "unsuccessful attempt" suggests that living is a failure, which can be deeply harmful

❌ Referring to someone as a "suicidal person" reduces them to their crisis, ignoring their full identity

💡Instead, try using language that’s accurate and compassionate

✅ "Died by su***de" and "su***de attempt" name the event without judgement

✅ "Experiencing suicidal thoughts" acknowledges thoughts as temporary experiences, not defining features

🩵💜Shifting our words helps reduce stigma, creates space for healing, and can even save lives

Su***de Prevention Awareness Month reminds us that silence is harmful, and honest conversations can save lives. Join us in tackling the stigma!

Unsure where to begin? Let’s start with the facts*:

➡️ 1 in 20 U.S. adults have serious thoughts of su***de annually
➡️Su***de is the 2nd leading cause of death for ages 10-24
➡️Men are 4x more likely to die by su***de than women
➡️41% of LGBTQ+ high school students report serious thoughts of su***de

Suicidal thoughts can affect anyone, but no one should face them alone.

💜 Start a conversation 🩵 Be the difference

If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Call or text 988 or chat 988lifeline.org to reach the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline

Today, we remember.

Memorial Day is a time to honor the brave individuals who gave their lives in service to our country. It’s also a moment to hold space for the many people—veterans, families, and communities—who carry invisible wounds from that loss.

Grief, trauma, and the mental health impact of war don’t take a day off. As we pay tribute, let’s also raise awareness:

🕊️ Veterans and active service members are at higher risk for PTSD, depression, and su***de.
🕊️ Loved ones left behind may experience complicated grief and long-term emotional effects.
🕊️ Mental health support is vital—not just for those who serve, but for those who carry their memories.

As we honor their courage, let’s also commit to care—compassion for those grieving, resources for those struggling, and open conversations about mental health.

💙 You are not alone. Help is always available.

🧠 Early Intervention Can Change Lives

Mental health challenges often start small—persistent stress, changes in sleep, loss of motivation—but without support, they can escalate.

Early intervention means recognizing the signs before a crisis hits:
✔️ Increased irritability or mood swings
✔️ Withdrawal from loved ones
✔️ Trouble focusing or completing daily tasks
✔️ Changes in sleep, appetite, or energy levels

When we take action early, we empower people to get the support they need to heal, grow, and thrive.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s normalize seeking help early—not just when things fall apart.

💬 Let’s talk about it. Let’s look out for each other.
Because mental health is health.

🧠 Chronic Illness & Mental Health: A Crucial Connection

Living with a chronic illness goes far beyond managing physical symptoms. For many, long-term conditions like fibromyalgia, chronic pain, multiple sclerosis, or diabetes deeply impact mental health as well.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re highlighting the importance of recognizing and addressing the mental health challenges that often accompany chronic illness:

✔️ Increased risk of depression, anxiety, and social isolation
✔️ Emotional fatigue from navigating unpredictable symptoms
✔️ The need for compassion and understanding in both physical and mental health care

Integrated care matters. Mental health support should be a key part of any chronic illness treatment plan—because well-being is more than physical.

If you or someone you love is navigating a chronic condition, know that support is available. You are not alone.

🌿 May is Mental Health Awareness Month 🌿

It's time to shine a light on mental health, reduce the stigma, and normalize open conversations about mental well-being. 💭 This month, let's work together to raise awareness, educate ourselves, and make seeking support feel as normal as going to the doctor. 🩺

Key things to remember:
💚 Mental health struggles, like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and eating disorders, are more common than we realize. It’s time to talk about them openly and without shame.
💚 Recognizing the signs of mental health challenges can save lives. Don’t wait – reach out for support when you need it.
💚 Everyone deserves access to mental health care. Let’s advocate for better resources and make mental health a priority for all.

Together, we can break the silence and support one another. Remember, asking for help is a strength, not a weakness. 💪

🌸 Spring Reminder: Your Worth Isn’t Measured by Your Waistline 🌸

As the weather warms up, the pressure to “get summer body ready” kicks into overdrive — especially online. Social media, ads, and society’s beauty standards can quietly (or loudly) chip away at our self-worth, leaving us hyper-focused on our appearance.

But here’s the truth:
🧠 Your mental health matters more than a number on the scale.
💛 Body image struggles are real — and they’re valid.
🍽️ Eating disorders aren’t just about food — they’re about control, shame, and pain.

This April, let’s choose:
✨ Self-compassion over comparison
✨ Nourishment over punishment
✨ Strength over shrinking

You are already enough — no filter, no fix required.

🌿 April is National Alcohol Awareness Month 🧠
Alcohol abuse doesn’t just affect the body — it deeply impacts mental health, too. From increasing the risk of depression and anxiety to fueling cycles of addiction, alcohol misuse can quietly take hold of our emotional well-being.
This month is about more than awareness — it’s about reflection, education, and support.
✨ Key Reminders:
* Excessive drinking is often tied to underlying mental health struggles.
* Early intervention can save lives and restore hope.
* Recovery is possible — and you don’t have to do it alone.
Whether you're personally impacted or supporting someone you love, know that resources are out there: therapy, support groups, and compassionate treatment programs.
Let’s keep the conversation going — because healing starts with awareness. 💬💙
