Oh did we have fun yesterday packing treat bags for the Trick or Treaters. We had several people assist with packing and we had so much fun. Once all of the candy was dumped onto the table and gloves were on our hands, it was a mad frenzy of candy packing. As you can see we are packing gloves, so some have candy fingers while others have candy palm, also some have few pieces and others are filled. Once packed Evelina and Michael tied them up to seal and look fancy, but did get assistance at the end from Orbania with the tie ups.

We have started the Halloween Season with a Naperville Haunting of the Area. A group boarded the bus for a spooky tour of Naperville to see the decorated, spooky and scary sights on people’s lawns. We too along some family members to assist us if we got too spooked. It was very thrilling and interactive as we went from sight to sight, at each house we compared with the last and made comments on the spookiness. At some point we could see the fog and smoke before we arrived as we turned the corners. Michael did get out so that you could see what we saw from the bus, but no one was brave enough shall we say to get off. We preferred the safety and warmth of the bus. Either way everyone enjoyed the hauntings and spookiness and are very excited for the week that we have planned. So if you are free sometime this week come see what we have instore for Halloween.

What a way to go see the changing colors on the trees. A small group took a trip past the Fox River on Rte. 25 to see the wonderful colors starting to change along the river. Before we started our trip, we needed to stop at A&W Restaurant in North Aurora for a Root Beer Float. Once we had our floats, we started our journey by the river, which we saw much of and the other things along the road. We rode through downtown Aurora and saw how it is changing in development and upgrades, especially by the theater. We turned off of Rte. 25 at the junction of Rte. 30 and headed home, but everyone enjoyed the colors, the treat and also remembering the driving that they used to do on these roads. &WRootbeerfloats

Got Our Kicks on Rte. 66 for our picnic in October along the Kankakee River and also a visit to see the Gemini Giant. Once we were boarded on the bus with our jackets, blankets and lunch, we headed out of the building on a beautiful fall day for a picnic. Once we were at the destination of the park, Michael gave the choice of eating in the shade by the sign and giant or along the river, unanimously it was decided to have lunch by the river.
As we loaded the group gathered under the pavilion where they made hot chocolate to warm up a bit and also to help take in the beauty of the day. As they drank their hot drink, we made accommodations in the grass and under the sun to have our lunch. Before lunch was served we toasted or saluted to the day and how wonderful it was. Lunch was served, received very well and when not eating some people walked around looking at the river and also looking at the acorns all over the ground. A few pictures were snapped by the river, we loaded up the bus and ventured to the front of the park and those who wanted to get off did and posed by the Rte. 66 Sign an also the Gemini Giant. Much fun was had and we definitely got Our Kicks on Rte. 66.

Planned and made our lunch for our last picnic, yes a picnic in October, last Wednesday. The lunch group packed up the Cheetos precisely in the bags, without taking samples. Others in the group counted and packed up servings of chips ahoy and oreos. Evelina came out of the kitchen to help make the sandwiches of Ham- Turkey and Cheddar cheese, no one volunteered to help her. There was much laughter as they packing was underway, caused some noise to have others join them to supervise and sample what was left, they needed to make sure that the cookies and Cheetos were tasty. The destination will be disclosed in tomorrow's post and of what a great time that was had on the picnic.

Thursday with the sun shining and not a cloud in the sky, a small group went to McDowell Park for picnic. As we drove from the building, the conversation was excitement that we were going on a picnic in October. Once everyone was situated under the rustic canopy by the DuPage River the lunch that was prepared by another group the day before was served. Everyone enjoyed their lunch very much, sitting outside, laughing and talking with the people around them. We even had a two family members join us at the end of our picnic.
