Position Description
Seeking a part-time Child and Adolescent Post-Doctoral or Early Career Psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in a well-respected, well-established practice in Naperville, Illinois. Primary responsibility is to provide high quality and evidenced-based individual and family therapy to a broad range of child and adolescent clients, with a wide range of clinical presentations.
The Psychologist is expected to see up to 15 clients per week. As a family centered practice, we see the full age range from toddlers to young adults and treat the full range of clinical presentations. Most common referrals include anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, ADHD, mood regulation, and high functioning autism. In addition to individual therapy, the successful candidate will be comfortable working closely with parents and conducting family therapy. It is expected that the Psychologist will use evidence-based interventions including CBT, DBT, ACT, and play therapy.
The Psychologist will conduct psychological assessments as needed, up to one case per month. A typical testing battery includes the following measures, with which candidates should be experienced: WISC V, WIAT III, NEPSY 2, BASC 3, BRIEF 2, MACI, TAT, Rorschach, and additional measures as appropriate. Most common assessment referrals are for diagnostic clarification and treatment recommendations.
Tompkins and Associates is partnered with Lurie Children's Hospital Department of Psychiatry in a national research project of randomized therapeutic interventions for childhood anxiety. Tompkins and Associates serves as a treatment center for this research study. The Psychologist will be fully trained in research treatment protocol and will participate in all facets of this collaboration.
At Tompkins and Associates, we value a professional and supportive environment for training. The Post-Doctoral Psychologist will receive up to two hours per week of supervision. Our supervision model is centered on fine-tuning clinical skills in the final year of formal training and promoting the Post-Doctoral Psychologist's professional development. All Psychologists in the practice are encouraged to access peer supervision and collaboration as needed.
The successful candidate will be independent in scheduling clients, case management, and will have outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Strong organization skills are required to maintain time management. The Psychologist should be comfortable collaborating with other providers in the community including psychiatrists, therapists, pediatricians, and school staff. Opportunities for networking and professional development are provided to interested candidates.
