Physical Therapy helps older adults maintain or regain physical strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. As we age, natural muscle loss, joint stiffness, and decreased mobility can lead to a higher risk of falls, injuries, and reduced independence. PT addresses these issues through targeted exercises and movement techniques that improve endurance, prevent falls, and support recovery from surgeries or injuries like hip fractures or strokes.
Occupational Therapy focuses on helping older adults stay independent in their daily lives. It addresses challenges in activities like dressing, bathing, and/or assistance with managing medications. OT also evaluates home environments and suggests modifications (e.g., grab bars, adaptive utensils) to make daily tasks safer and easier. For those with conditions like arthritis, Parkinson’s, or early dementia, OT can slow functional decline and promote a sense of autonomy.
Speech Therapy focuses on cognition and memory strategies, as well as speech production and swallowing.
Working with the therapists at Solaris Rehab, reduces the burden on caregivers, and improves physical and emotional well-being—helping residents stay active and engaged in life.
