You might be wondering why I’m holding a 3-week-old upside down 🙃???
When done properly, gently supported inversion can be a simple way to release tension patterns from birth and support healthy nervous system regulation.✨
Birth — even beautiful births — places pressure on a baby’s head, neck, and spine. That compression can contribute to tension patterns in the nervous system.
Gentle, supported inversion (always supervised and taught properly) may help:
💫Decompress the spine and sacrum
✨Encourage healthy cerebrospinal fluid movement
💫Support nervous system regulation
✨Reduce tension patterns associated with fussiness, reflux, gas, head preference, or difficulty settling
Babies give immediate feedback. If there were discomfort or increased pressure, they would cry or brace. A calm baby tells us their system feels safe.
This is one of the simple home exercises I teach parents to reinforce gentle pediatric chiropractic care between visits.
Early tension release = more ease for feeding, sleeping, digestion, and development.🫶🏽
