I have to admit...I wouldn't have thought of using white vinegar for the moisture in the cloths.
However, anything that helps us get rid of toxins in the home is worth a shot!
One of the most toxic products on the market IMO is fabric softener sheets.
I can literally smell the heavy fragrance (aka stench IMO) from them in the street from the homes that are drying their clothes when I'm out walking my dog.
I can smell the fabric softener from my A/C maintenance man's clothes all the way in my kitchen when he comes in my front door.
Someone paid me cash for a used bike the other day--guess what smell emanated off the cash? Fabric softener.
Can you imagine chemicals strong enough to absorb in the dryer to the clothes, then transfer onto the cash from the clothes in the man's pocket?
It permeates the air, clothes and anything it comes in contact with.
I live for the day we see regulations requiring less chemicals in personal care products.
Europe bans 1400 chemicals in personal care products.
The U.S.?
Bans 14 (!!!)
That's the power of lobbists for chemical companies in the U.S.
In spite of other countries banning them, we still have them.
Note--it's chemical companies fighting against removing chemicals in personal care products.
One big chemical set of ingred's=fragrance.
I consider fragrance one of the most "evil" because people--especially women and young girls, are attracted to perfume scent.
Body lotion, body spray, hair spray, perfumed shampoo and conditioners etc.
These companies making these products prey upon the girls that love the "scent".
Matter of fact, they count on it. They know the scent draws the customer in.
Meanwhile, the xenoestrogens these chemicals create via a cascade of interactions in the body, are destroying female--and male--bodies due to elevated, powerful estrogen and by disrupting testosterone balance.
The symptoms/conditions of hormone upset: early onset of puberty/menstruation, severe cramping, heavy bleeding, infertility, anxiety, PCOS to name a few.
Sadly, the SAME damaging, toxic treatments used 15 years ago when we struggled with Endometriosis in our household, are still the very same ones they are using today with the same lack of solving the health issue.
The reason being that doctors don't consider the effect chemicals have on hormone balance.
IF you shop for safer products for you and your children and you see a product that looks like it might be safe/clean, pick up the bottle, read the ingred's.
If it has the word "fragrance" in the ingred's, you can bet the manufacturer has other chemicals in the product as well.
Fragrance is a combination of chemicals mixed together to create a scent.
Essential oils come from nature--the plant or tree they are drawn from.
Fragrance--even if the product says natural but lists fragrance in the ingred's--created in a lab with a concoction of chemicals that absorb into you/your family's skin into the bloodstream.
Go the safer route. Essential oils are one way to bring in a beautiful scent without harm to the body.
This recipe is a great way to get your fabric softener "fix" without the chemicals.
I also like to use a wool dryer ball and drop some essential oils on it.
I believe RFK Jr is going to make changes to help parents in this struggle for safe products but meanwhile, it's up to each parent to learn, research and discern.
