This week we are looking back at 2012 and the big shift at the Clinic to focus on caring for patients with chronic illnesses!
From it's inception, the Clinic's mission was to care for low-income, working, but uninsured Collier County adults. As the years went on, and the Clinic was treating their episodic symptoms, Dr. Bill and Nancy Lascheid realized their issues were deeper and found a lot of the Clinic's patients dealing with one or more chronic illnesses. Because of this, the decision was made to shift the focus from treating episodic symptoms to the more immediate need of their chronic illness symptoms.

“My, how you’ve grown!” I’m speaking of Collier County. I moved here in 1989 when the population was 145,000. Today, more than 418,000 year-round residents call the county home. Here are some numbers that reflect the health and well-being of some of those residents who are a little less fort...

In 1998 the Neighborhood Health Clinic was an idea conceived in the Lascheid’s kitchen- just two short months after Dr. Bill and Nancy Lascheid retired from their full-time Naples dermatology practice. The concept of a medical clinic for the working poor gained momentum and attracted supporters. With shared enthusiasm of friends and help from professionals and volunteers in the community, the Clinic was able to open its doors in April 1999.

The Original Clinic
The Clinic’s first medical location was space donated by NCH Healthcare System in the now-demolished Grand Central Station commercial complex on Goodlette-Frank Road. A generous contributor donated funding for the construction of a new building and in 2003 the Clinic moved into its current location at 121 Goodlette Road North – a state-of-the-art medical facility -mortgage free. The continuing generosity of donors and this community has allowed the Clinic to flourish.
