Torticollis — often called “wry neck” — can affect both infants and adults.
It’s commonly linked to tightness or contraction in the sternocleidomastoid (SCM) muscle, the long muscle that runs from behind the ear to the collarbone.
👶 In children: you may notice a head tilt, difficulty turning to one side, a preference for looking in one direction, discomfort in tummy time, or the development of a flat head.
👩🦱 In adults: symptoms often include sudden neck pain, stiffness, limited movement, headaches, or dizziness.
✨ The good news: gentle therapies such as CranioSacral Therapy (CST), Osteopathic Manual Therapy (OMT), and targeted stretching can release tension in the SCM, restore movement, and relieve discomfort.
🌿 Whether in little ones or adults, torticollis doesn’t have to linger — relief and better mobility are possible with the right care.
