Feelings of helplessness without options for pain relief and dysfunction are over. The main focus at our physical therapy office is to deliver the most outstanding care that is designed to get you back to your normal life again and to help you better understand what caused your problem and the solutions available. Treatments at NPPT include physical therapy, massage therapy, personal training, and Therapy cold light laser treatment. Treatments take place in a fully equipped gym and private treatment rooms for all manual and massage therapy.

Common Pain Points of Football...

1) knee injuries: these occur primarily for the meniscus and the ACL. either of these injuries can be season ending. proper hip strength and ankle stability are needed for injury prevention.

2) shoulder injuries: these can occur from hitting contact or from trowing and catching related movements. rotator cuff tears or shoulder fractures are the most common injuries. these can be prevented with proper tacking form and adequate shoulder strength specifically the rotator cuff and the deltoid muscle.

3) Ankle injuries: The ankle is injured with either tackling or cutting movements on the field. ankle strength and proper balance training as well as ankle tape before games can be pivotal for ankle injury prevention.

4) Low Back injuries: this area of the body gets hurt with improper tacking form. this area of the body is best protected with a proper core and low back strengthening program, as well as adequate flexibility is also important for maintaining a healthy back.

Football is one of the most popular school sport which means there’s an increased risk of injury. Common football injuries include:

Concussions- This injury can keep you sidelined for 1-2 weeks. working on neck strength and balance control can help limit risk of concussion injuries.

Hamstring Strains- this is one of the most common muscle injuries in football, and can keep you sidelined for weeks. Proper flexibility and sport specific strengthening can be pivotal for injury prevention.

Knee Sprains- cutting injuries can end your season if the ACL is involved. proper hip strengthening can reduce ACL injury risk by greater than 50%.

Ankle Sprains- ankle strength and balance training can prevent pesky ankle sprains. remember once you sprain your ankle it is always prone to future ankle injuries unless you regain adequate strength around the ankle and practice balancing drills.

1. Always Warm Up and Cool Down- Warming up increases your heart rate steadily and improves flexibility reducing the risk of injury. Cooling down helps alleviate soreness and stiffness by easing you to rest.

2. Wear/Use the Correct Equipment- Wearing the wrong equipment for a sport such as not wearing the right shoes can greatly increase the risk of injury as can not using equipment such as a crash mat.

3. Stay Hydrated- Staying hydrated can help prevent overheating and cramps as well as lubricating the joints helping to prevent injuries. Hydration can also allow you to compete longer and keeps you more alert when playing.

4. Adequately Rest and Recover- Rest and recovery gives your body the chance to repair any damage and prevent burnouts. Recovery is one of the least appreciated aspects of competitive training.
