Do you remember you first yoga class? Heck, maybe it was even your last, although I hope not. You thought it was going to be all stretchy and relaxing the whole time. Yes, it can be, but more likely it was hard, even uncomfortable and made you feel weird.
Yoga, all of yoga's disciplines are impossible to master for 99.99% of human's. You would likely have to live away from your family, in a cave, for most of your life to have self -realization and spiritual awakening while standing on your head. But, seriously, there are only a handful of people who have dedicated there entire lives to yoga like, B.K.S Iyengar, Krishnamacharya, Pattabhi Jois who are considered masters. So Yoga is really hard, and then trying to integrate it in all that you do is the work of sages and living in service (Mother Theresa, Buddha) . Yoga is perfect evenness of mind. Yoga is skill in action.

Stop doubting your not doing it right, or your too old, not balanced and all the other things that scare you. Yoga is more than a pose, it's about stillness, it's about finding the delicate balance of when to put more and when to put less effort in. It literally will stop you in your tracks when trying something new, and make you scratch your head.
There are varieties of classes to meet you where you are. Yoga is so hard, it asks you to turn off the charm, the intellect, even your identity.
Yoga doesn't want you to reject the intellect but not to worship it. The charm, the ego is a beast to tame. To just sit in raw presence, no mask, no audience, just awareness, that is yoga. So is being compassionate with yourself when you can't hold high crescent lunge because you have an "old foot". Yesterday I took a class and the teacher guided us to shoulder stand, which normally would be an easier pose for me, but my intuition kicked in and said, "no, not yet, you are still healing from surgery" so I opted for bridge pose instead took 4 smooth breaths." I celebrated I could do Urdhva Dhanurasana (Upward bow posture) after not even thinking about it since March 31.
So keep flowing, keep grounded. Yes, yoga is hard. It's a continuous spiral of getting to know yourself and your body. The dream of life and the school of earth. Mantra's: I am a warrior, I don't shy from challenges, I seek balance. I am not the stories of my past.
Beneath it all I am peace.

Namaste'

Yoga- You can't talk to God using AI https://wix.to/kK1ieUm
With AI advancing rapidly, itโ€™s bound to influence how we practice. Yoga will continue to be grounded in mindfulness, breath, unity, and growth, but AI will bring new enhancements for both teachers and students in ways we haven't even imagined yet. Regardless, the honest work, sweat, tears, and stillness are what lead to true yoga. A word of advice is that you can't measure spirituality and ascension. For teachers to hold their value, I think the spiritual teachings from the Upanishads, Veda's, Bhagavad Gita are all irreplaceable. To keep the practice grounded in it's roots, we as teachers need to step it up and include more "wisdom" from this to keep our aspiring yogis and clients motivated. You can't talk to God using an app.

AI is advancing with programs that provide real-time feedback on asanas, apps that create personalized routines based on your goals, smart mats that track alignment and health, online teacher training (which I don't recommend), and improved accessibility for those unable to attend traditional classes. Platforms like Teach.yoga help master anatomy, enhanced video production improves learning, Yoga AI customizes flows, and apps like FitGrid allow you to track progress. I believe these tools will complement our current practices, and I have an appointment with FitGrid on Monday to see how it can benefit us.

That being said, there are limitations. Connection lies at the heart of human life. AI cannot replace the intuitive, human-centered, and spiritual aspects previously mentioned. It lacks empathy and the ability to "read the room" or the beach, lol. Yoga is a path to freedom, not something to create more attachments or addictions. So move forward with excitement but discernment. Love to all!

We're kicking off our new August calendar! Hope you're as excited as we are. Sunday's have been a little quiet. Please let me know if there is a better time for a weekend class with Alex.

What period of yoga are we entering next? Our modern technology and ancient compiled wisdom have me wondering what significant evolutions will be revealed in our lifetime. I'm excited to lean in and be part of that journey with you.
From Ancient Civilization to Modern Practice
Yoga's earliest traces appear in the Indus Valley civilization around 3000 BCE, where archaeological findings show figures in meditative poses. As this wisdom flowed into the Vedic period, yoga began to take form in sacred texts. The Vedas were written by the Rishis (sages). They were hymns and prayers that were passed down through sages orally. They were used in rituals and other practices. The Upanishads expanded these concepts, exploring the connection between individual consciousness and the universe. They document the transition from the archaic ritualism of the Veda into new religious ideas & scriptures of Hinduism, and speak of meditation and. consciousness. They had to be memorized and passed down generation to generation.
The pivotal moment came around 200 BCE when Patanjali (there is debate if he is an actual person or not) ,the Father of Yoga created a road map of how we are to exactly practice yoga. Pantanjali was dualistic in nature meaning there was a separation between the Divine and Self. Through the medieval period, Ta**ra yoga introduced new dimensions, emphasizing the divine feminine energy and ritual practices. It's during this time there is a transition to nondualism. Here there is no separation between the Divine and Self. Here there is a transition to God is all things, God is with in all of us.
This rich history continues to unfold in our contemporary practice. In my 300 hour teacher training, I was asked to write a paper on whether I believed in Dualism or Nondualism. Everyone had an opinion. I've changed my mind since first presented with that question, as my yoga practice has evolved and changed.
I'll share it at a later time....Until then pray or meditate about it.
