Let’s talk about STRESS, baby!
There are three main types of stress:
1️⃣ Physical stress like birth, growth spurts, accidents and injuries, posture and even constant exercise without recovery!
2️⃣ Chemical stress like the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat. Toxins are literally everywhere in our world it seems!
3️⃣ Emotional stress like our jobs, the crazy world we live in, relationships with others, our personal health and the health of our families, and the list goes on and on.
Too many of these stressors all at once creates what is called the fight or flight response in our nervous systems. This system when left on for longer periods of time activates our adrenal glands, increases our inflammation markers, and moves our bodies away from healing, rest, and repair. This is why stress is such a huge threat to our health overall - because it takes away from our body’s ability to heal and puts us at risk for illness and other struggles.
Some of these struggles are GI issues, hormonal imbalances, chronic immune challenges, constant anxiety, depression, and mood swings, decreased energy, an inability to fall asleep, behavioral issues, allergies - among other symptoms.
Although chiropractic cannot stop the amount of stress you’re experiencing in your life, it can absolutely help you adapt to it better. The better you adapt, the better you heal, and the more you can handle the stress in your life!
