It's time for our where we talk to a resident and find out what they love about Heritage House. Today we interviewed Harold "Sonny" Wolfe who moved into one of our apartments two months ago. He said, "I lived in another independent living and it isn't even close to the family feel I get when living at Heritage House. I get great food, lots of activities to keep me busy, and I can also go out with my son whenever I feel like. I recommend this place to any senior who wants a place to call home."

National Women’s Health and Fitness Day was celebrated last week and Heritage House would like to highlight the best way the ladies here are keeping themselves healthy. We have a weekday exercise class that helps build on the strength they have, helps with balance, and as an added perk, it also keeps you hydrated (just ask the residents - they know).

There are lots of ways for women to stay healthy like eating the right foods, walking, and staying up to date on your doctor visits. So ladies, let us take those small steps into getting healthy!

Ready to jump into senior living? Why not check out Heritage House's spacious one bedroom apartments with dedicated living and sleeping areas. We offer maintenance free living which means we do all the cooking, cleaning, and yard work. We have two one bedrooms open. One bedroom apartment is facing our front courtyard while the second is facing the front bond both being on our most desired first floor. Come in a reserve it before it is gone.

Last week Nappanee celebrated its annual Apple Festival and Heritage House residents and staff were busy participating in all the fun. First was the Apple Festival Recognition Dinner where donators were honored along with a great meal. Second, residents hopped on the van and headed to Senior Bingo during the second day of the festival, and we had four big winners. Heritage House staff and resident, Pat Yoder, participated in the parade walking down Main Street then that afternoon some antique tractors drove through the parking lot like a small parade. It was an exhausting week but was load of fun and lots of new memories.

Heritage House was honored to have Lake City Bank in to hold a budgeting seminar from their financial wellness class. Residents and staff alike were able to gather some great information about budgeting funds and interesting ways to save money.

Heritage House celebrated our employees with 5 years of service or longer with our special employee lunch. Resident Services Director, Brenda, grilled steaks and chicken, baked potatoes, chopped salads and cut up pies for this special group of ladies.

Between office work, nursing and activities, they have over 140 years of experience under their belts. Pictured below (front chairs) are Cheryl Davis and Maria Cremeans. In the back (starting left to right) is Kimberly Reed, Shawna Yoder, Michelle Duckett, Leslie Rigsby, and Brenda Wolfe.

Heritage House would like to wish Bill Reed a Happy Birthday! Bill grew up in Tennessee with his parents. He was an avid basketball player while in school. He moved to Indiana when he turned 17 and finished school. He met his wife, they married, and he was deployed in the United States Air Force where he served four years. When he returned home they quickly had three children. He went to work at Studabakers for several years then took several different jobs in sales department until he retired. Bill loves sports and will watch anything related to them. He also wanted to mention that he has been married to his wife for over 60 years and loves her as much as the first day they met!

In celebrating Environmental Services Week we not only highlight the staff that make the building look good, but the activities they do to keep it up with first being our laundry services. Each floor has two laundry rooms with two washers and dryers each which so washing can be done quickly. Heritage House provides weekly flat linen services for sheets and towels and can also provide personal linen washing at an additional charge.

Come and talk to Community Relations Director, Kimberly, at 574-773-3592 to take advantage of our laundry services or any other amenities that Heritage House have to offer.
