❣️Traditional Chinese medicine believes your period tells us SO much about both your internal and emotional state.
Ideally, the period blood should be a nice crimson red, void of clots or pain, and will typically last anywhere between 3-5 (sometimes up to 6-7) days.
The flow should be nice and even, typically heavier on days 1-2, and then slowly tapering off.
The color of your period blood tells us so much-so take note:
-Brown blood, sometimes present at the start and the end of the cycle can indicate stagnation, but it can also be present throughout the entire period, and can also indicate presence of damp/damp heat.
-Bright blood will indicate potential heat in the blood or uterus, while Dark blood with almost a purple tinge, often accompanied by dark clots can indicate stasis of blood and/or cold in the uterus-this is a common pattern we see in the case of endometriosis and dysmenorrhea.
-Pale red or pink blood can indicate that there is a deficiency of blood or a deficiency of the spleen which is failing to produce sufficient blood.
-Darker blood with small stringy clots can indicate Qi stasis- this can be trigged by stress or other internal elements blocking the flow of qi or stagnating the liver.
Start taking note of the color of blood each cycle and discuss it with me at your next appointment❣️
