Sometimes you’ll get a student that grunts and pants and scrunches up in the neck and shoulders to try and get the forehead to the floor. And… They will not get their forehead to the floor. The lessons you learn in yoga often come from making mistakes and from failing and from trying TOO hard to do it “right.” and though earnest effort is important, so is surrendering to your PRESENT circumstances and working within them.
you will not get your forehead to the floor by forcing it or fighting with yourself.
deepening your postures requires an acuity of observation—and consistent practice. notice the details of your set up. Notice your breath and how you embody yourself with your breath. Notice where the weight goes in your feet. notice every movement- the little twitches and nuances.
and *very important*- try not to judge your “performance “ of it. be a witness to your experience of it. how does the movement or your expression of the posture make you FEEL?
let go of your idea the perfect posture. Trust that over time and with a consistent practice , you’ll get more flexible and you will find new strength and depths.
its not about getting your forehead to the floor- its about what you learn on the way down.
Patience.
Discipline.
Determination.
Self-control.
FAITH.
Practice and all is coming 🙏🏻🤍🧘🏻♀️
