In celebration of 🌈PRIDE 🏳️‍🌈month our practice is continuing to focus our attention on providing services to those in the lgbtqia+ population.

In doing so we will be going through some creative changes in name and branding. We will be holding a name contest for the month of June. We would like to include the very population we aim to serve in defining who we are. That being said we are looking for possible name submissions from those in lgbtqia+ community from June 1st until June 20, 2022. We will then hold a vote of the top 3 submissions.

~1st place winner will be given a $100 giftcard and recognition on our page and professional website with the announcement of our new name.

~2nd place winner will recieve a $50 giftcard

~3rd place winner will recieve a $25 giftcard

All submissions must be recieved by 11:59 pacific eastern time June 20, 2022.

Winners will be contacted via email and announced on June 24, 2022

Participants must be 13 yrs of age and older and have parental consent to participate if under 18 yrs of age. Please submit to the practice owner and clinician Ashley Silva at ashley@silvalicswllc.org.

HAPPY SPRING 🌹🌸🌼🌞☀️🌻

The seasons have a strong connection to how we are feeling. The literal light at the end of the tunnel is coming for a large amount of the population who struggle with seasonal affective disorder. Remember that even when we are feeling better we still want to maintain active in our skills/therapy/ and mindfulness.

It's also important to remember, that though it's a small percentage, the spring and summer months could trigger depression for some so reach out for support!

We have immediate self pay openings starting in April with an amazing clinician who has Monday through Friday availability 9am-5pm.

The National Institute of Mental Health gathered information from a 2020 National Survey on drug use and health and found;

-An estimated 21.0 million adults in the United States had at least one major depressive episode.
-This number represented 8.4% of all U.S. adults.
-The prevalence of major depressive episode was higher among adult females (10.5%) compared to males (6.2%).
-The prevalence of adults with a major depressive episode was highest among individuals aged 18-25 (17.0%).
-The prevalence of major depressive episode was highest among those who report having multiple (two or more) races (15.9%).

Long story short, even when your mind and thoughts work hard at making you feel alone, there are so many others out there dealing with similar things.

Its okay to ask for help when you need. At our practice we are always ready to be that helping resource.

Affirming gender identity for youths is the antithesis of abuse. Statistics show an increased rate of suicidality, depression and anxiety in individuals who experience dysphoria and lack of support or ability to live their truth.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott called on state agencies to conduct "prompt and thorough investigations" into the use of gender-affirming care for transgender youths.
