Join us every Wednesday, time varies, for Mindfulness for Pregnant & Postpartum Parents! 🧘‍♀️

In this 60-minute offering, PSI-trained facilitators will provide skills on how to mindfully navigate the challenging seasons of pregnancy and postpartum parenthood. To be truly mindful is to create awareness around our emotions and the space to truly feel them. Each group will start off with education on mindfulness, then practicing mindfulness (think breath work, meditation, journaling), and will end with self reflection and sharing. Please feel free to set up your space to provide comfort and relaxation – having a comfortable place to sit or lay and a journal is encouraged.

We are excited to share that National Healthy Start Association (NHSA) Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health Community Care Initiative (AIM CCI) has released the Maternal Monologues Toolkit! Maternal Monologues are community presentations of stories by women/birthing persons, their partners and supporters along the journey of birthing and maternal health. These stories are based on real experiences, and designed to serve as a tool for communities to tell their own stories for healing, raising awareness and mobilizing for change.

Maternal Monologues is more than sharing stories. It engages the audience in a discussion around how they can organize and become involved in the work to advocate for supporting and protecting women/birthing persons and improving maternal health outcomes in their own communities.

Download the toolkit and you will receive guidance on how to use Maternal Monologues to:
- raise awareness about maternal health issues in our nation and communities
- create a supportive space for community members to share stories of both joy and pain
- provide a creative outlet for engaging people in discussion about difficult topics
- bring a diversity of community members together to address a shared concern
- provide structure for holding discussion and planning for ACTION

Maternal Monologues events can bring together a variety of individuals and organizations who work in the maternal health space, but rarely work together. Community members, civic leaders, clinicians, community health workers and advocates engaging in conversation in this way can spur the partnerships and synergy needed to move the needle on maternal health outcomes in YOUR community. We invite you to download the toolkit today!

Creating Your Doula Logo - What to Know Before you Choose

For doulas in the beginning stages of setting up their businesses, a logo can feel like one of the most daunting tasks.

It can be hard to find something that you feel like sums up your entire business in a small image.

But the good news is, a doula logo doesn’t have to do that! 🥳

Your logo should be a simple, easy to remember image that helps potential clients remember you and draws them in.

KEEP IT SIMPLE!

This is the MOST important thing to keep in mind. A logo is meant to be easy to recognize - think of some of the most famous ones like the Nike swoosh, the Target bullseye, or the Apple apple. I see so many beautiful, intricate doula logos that are full of meaning, but they aren’t going to make the quick impression you need to.

✅Think clean lines, common images, and eye-catching colors!

Making a logo yourself doesn’t require a lot of graphic design know-how. Websites like Canva allow you to drag and drop elements and customize colors to quickly have your own logo. You can also transfer that image to a number of sizes and mediums, which makes it easy to manage your branding.

But you may also prefer to work with a designer so that you have that professional and polished look representing your doula business. You can find plenty of freelancers online, especially through websites like Fiverr. If you go this route, just make sure that you’re clear with them about what you need and get good quality images in a variety of sizes.

However, working with a graphic designer can be expensive.
