All Aboard for Fall Fun! 🚂
Hunt residents recently enjoyed a breathtaking scenic train ride through the White Mountains. Their journey included a relaxing stop in Plymouth, where they savored a delicious buffet lunch at The Common Man and browsed the charming gift shop for local treasures.
On the return trip, they made a memorable stop in Ashland at a beautifully preserved historic train station. There, members of the Historical Society, dressed in authentic 1800s attire, offered a warm and fascinating welcome.
It was a day filled with stunning views, great food, local history, and wonderful company, a perfect autumn adventure!

Downsize Like a Pro - Tips and Tricks
Make a plan for unwanted items

Once you and your family or friends have taken what you want from your belongings, the next step is clearing out what’s left.

For usable items that no one wants, consider donating. Call local charities to see if they are picking up in your area. Most will be happy to collect donations, just bag up the items and have them ready.

Most importantly, be gentle with yourself. You need to be prepared for dealing with an ocean of emotions while going through this process. You are making one of the largest transitions in life and you will be taken down memory lane as you sort through your items.

Downsize Like a Pro - Tips and Tricks
Sort through your items carefully

As you declutter and organize your possessions, it’s natural to want to finish the job quickly. However, rushing increases the risk of accidentally throwing away something valuable, especially small items that can easily be overlooked. For example, mistakenly discarding an heirloom ring or other cherished keepsake can be emotionally devastating.

To avoid this, take the time to carefully examine each item before deciding to toss it out. Pay special attention to smaller belongings, as they are easier to lose or misplace. Properly packing and storing your keepsakes is essential to ensure they stay safe and aren’t accidentally discarded during the process.

Downsize Like a Pro - Tips and Tricks
One Day? No Way!

As you downsize, it’s important to give yourself plenty of time to sort through your belongings. Trying to go through your entire house in one day will only increase stress and make the process overwhelming. Sorting your items is a major task that requires patience and time.

No matter how many possessions you have, this process can be exhausting and time-consuming. While the exact amount of time needed varies, it’s best to allow yourself at least three months to get organized. If you have a lot of belongings, giving yourself up to six months to a year is even more ideal.
