FACULTY SPOTLIGHT! ๐ŸŒŸ Randy Goff - Associate Professor of Chemistry โš›๏ธ

๐Ÿ“Œ What do you teach? I teach chemistry

๐Ÿ“Œ Why do you teach? I was teaching while doing research and realized that I could do one very well or do both and just be adequate. As I taught, I felt happier and had greater career satisfaction. Plus, I didnโ€™t have to worry about the research grant climate.

๐Ÿ“Œ Area in which you struggle and why: I am always looking for ways to improve how I deliver content to students. I need to ensure that I am consistently presenting material in a clear, unambiguous manner and focus on the most significant concepts students should learn.

๐Ÿ“Œ Favorite education quote and why: โ€œKnowledge is knowing tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing not to put tomato in a fruit salad.โ€ This helps remind me why I do what I do--to stay focused on the knowledge and skill sets that will be most relevant for my students.

๐Ÿ“Œ Favorite content to teach and why: Love teaching organic chemistry. It is at the crucial junction between medicine, biology, physics, and material science.
