Self-love is not selfish! As long as we live in a body, we have an obligation to take care of it...

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, this is a great time to reflect on the importance of giving our body the care and attention it deserves. And we don’t mean just buying a better body lotion or shower gel!

We are The Fascia Hub, so our focus is on our body’s substance; what and who we are. The fascia is a fascinating tissue that connects everything inside us. Our understanding of fascia reminds us that nothing in the body exists in isolation. Also, we know that every experience, every habit, every stressor leaves an imprint.

Learning to love our bodies doesn’t mean loving how they look every day, focusing on external appearance. It means learning to listen to what our body is telling us, whether it is in pain, comfortable, full of energy or in need of rest. Learning to notice tension without judgment. To respect pain as information, not an enemy. To care for our tissues with curiosity and awareness.

When we look after our bodies - through movement, rest, touch, the conscious breath - we’re not trying to “fix” them. We’re facilitating and supporting an intelligent system..
The body isn’t something we live in. It’s something we are. And it deserves patience, respect, and care every single day.

Great article that showcases the important roles a skilled massage therapist can play in identifying clinical issues in the tissues, as well as supporting mind-body health.

There’s a lot they can tell about you, from your occupation to your stress levels — and even serious health conditions.

Totally true!

Totally true!

When there is dysfunction in our bodies, we compensate; often, so well we don't experience any pain. More dysfunction, more compensation. Our first instance of pain is not a time-stamp for when the dysfunction began, but rather for when we lost the ability to compensate effectively.
