When temperatures dip below freezing, hypothermia is a concern. It can happen when a person has prolonged exposure to extremely cold temperatures.
“The most common winter injuries are frostbite as well as hypothermia,” said Dr. Marc Grossman, emergency room medical director at Portsmouth Regional Hospital (Portsmouth, NH), and colleague within our larger network, HCA Healthcare. “We also see a lot of slips and falls on ice.”
