The Mind EDIT

The Mind EDIT You don’t have to choose between your family and career. I’m Elise, therapist and creator of Mind E.D.I.T. I'm a mama and a mental health therapist.

I guide high-responsibility moms from burnout to values-driven presence using neuroscience-based micro-practices, boundaries, and identity work. Anyone who knows me would tell you that I exude empathy, warmth, and compassion. They would also tell you that I'm silly, personable, and easy-going. If you're looking for a therapist who is genuine in all of their interactions with each and every client, we'd likely be a great fit.

To all the moms out there comparing themselves to that "past" capable version of themselves — I want to reframe something for you. 🫶

What you're experiencing isn't a character flaw or a sign that you're less capable.

It's what happens when capable, high-functioning moms carry so much responsibility that their brain literally never gets to stop.

The to-do lists. The anticipating. The holding-it-all-together. It adds up.

And the moms it hits hardest? Usually the ones working the hardest.

Click through and notice how your brain reacts to these messages.

Which slide stopped you in your tracks? Share in the comments 👇

Save as a reminder and share this with a mom who needs to hear she's not alone today. 🙏

If your brain feels like it’s trying to stay one step ahead of everything and everyone…this is for you.

Here's a micro-reset to get out of overwhelm FAST so you can feel more clear and effective in whatever actually matters next 🥰

Visual cues can be helpful, so couple of ways to use this: just print page 2 - maybe small postcard-size - and tape it to your desk, fridge, washing machine (nod to all those who forget where they were going and why 💁‍♀️). Also, maybe take a screen shot.

Feel free to share with anyone you feel could use this - they don't have to be a mother 🫶

Drop a 🏆 in the comments if you’re saving this for later.

Good morning mamas 🤍

If you’re someone who’s always been capable…
but lately things just feel harder than they should…

Like you’re looking around thinking,
“Why does everyone else seem to have it together… and I don’t?”

That feeling of being behind…
or like you’ve lost a version of yourself you used to rely on…

I just want to gently say—nothing is wrong with you.

It’s not that you’re failing.
It’s not that you’ve become less than you were before.

It’s that you’re carrying more.

More to think about.
More to manage.
More emotions (yours and everyone else’s).

And when your brain is constantly trying to hold all of that at once…
of course it feels overwhelming.

Of course it feels like too much.

And I know when it feels that big, there’s this urge to fix it right now…
to figure everything out and get back on track as fast as possible.

But usually, the most helpful thing isn’t to push harder.

It’s to pause.

Step outside for a moment.
Literally change your environment—even just moving rooms.

Take a breath.
Look around.
Notice what you can see, hear, feel.

Let your body catch up.

Because when you feel calmer, you actually feel more in control…
which is what your brain was trying to do all along.

So if everything feels like it’s spiraling a bit—
you don’t need to control all of it right now.

You’re allowed to step back.
You’re allowed to take a break.

You’re not just going to be okay (and you absolutely will be)…
you’re actually going to find your way back to yourself 🤍

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately—both personally and in conversations I’ve been having—and I wanted to share it here too :) I’m really curious what this looks like for you, if it feels familiar.

I work with a lot of moms who feel like they just need to manage their time better, or have more structure, or be more organized.

And I get why it feels that way… but truly, most of the time that’s not really what’s going on.

What I see (and what I’ve felt too) is more of a constant mental overload — not just everything you have to do, but everything you feel like you should be doing.

Like…

You’re playing with your kid, but your brain goes:
“I should be prepping dinner… oh wait, I have to answer that email… sh*t… did I make that appointment?”

And when you finally sit down for a second… instead of resting like everyone tells you to do, your mind keeps going—running through your to-do list, replaying something you said or felt earlier, or trying to think of ways to prevent a problem that hasn’t even happened.

And underneath all of that, there’s this quiet pressure to be doing it well.

To be patient enough.
Productive enough.
Present enough.

And a lot of those “shoulds” aren’t things we’ve consciously chosen.

They’re just… there.

So even when you technically have time, your mind doesn’t really let you have it.

And that’s the part that gets so exhausting.

Not just the doing… but the constant internal pressure underneath it.

I’ve felt how different things can be when you start to slow that down, even just a little… and I’ve seen that shift happen over and over again in the women I work with, too.

Not perfectly. Not all at once.

Just enough to create a little more space.

A little less pressure.

And that’s usually where things start to shift 🤍

Today I did something that felt a little uncomfortable…

I put myself out there in a simple way—with a message: “Humans are meant to connect.”

No agenda. No expectations. Just an open invitation.

And almost immediately, someone came up, introduced himself, and reminded me how much we all crave this kind of space.

It made me think… how often are we all just waiting for permission to connect?

Maybe this is it. 🤍

If you saw this in this wild world… would you sit down?

Welcome to the last day of this Mini E.D.I.T. series — Day 3 🙂

The last couple days were just about noticing what’s in your head… and then the “shoulds.”

Today is just one small step further.

Out of everything in your head right now… what are one or two things that feel doable?

And something that feels meaningful, without so much pressure that you burn out before the week even starts.

That’s it for this little series.

I’d love to know what you noticed—or if there’s anything you’d want more support around.

If you’d like me to send you the full 3-day video series, I’d be happy to share it—just comment “EDIT” and I’ll send it your way!

And feel free to share this with someone you think might need it.

I’m Elise—I’m a therapist and coach for moms who feel stretched thin.

I hope this was helpful.

Welcome to Day 2 of the Mini E.D.I.T. 🙂

Yesterday was just about noticing what’s already in your head.

Today, just notice the “shoulds.”

All the things you’re telling yourself you should be doing.

Just start to catch that.

You don’t have to do anything with it yet.

That’s it.

And tomorrow, we’ll take it one step further!

If you want the rest of it, comment “EDIT” and I’ll send it to you.

If your brain already feels busy before your day even starts…

I made something simple for you 🙂

It’s a 3-day Mini E.D.I.T. to help you get out of your head and figure out what actually matters each day.

Day 1 is just about noticing.

Comment “EDIT” and I’ll send it to you!
