Hello Nashville! Did you know that each week (more or less, let's be realistic about our social media goals!) we highlight a local mental health resource?

It could be a class, volunteer opportunity, an affirming place to socialize, or a beautiful place to connect with nature...

We do this because mental health is health. And because our community offers more than one way to take care of ourselves.

This week, we are presenting Healing Arts Project Inc.

HAPI provides artistic opportunities for persons in recovery to promote healing, community awareness and inclusion.
Have you participated in one of their events? let us know!

If you are looking for a Nashville therapist, we provide local, sustainable counseling services in Nashville, and all over Tennessee via telehealth. Don't hesitate to reach out to Cedar Tree Wellness Center.

Believe me, I get it: scrolling is part of daily life. We all know it’s bad for us; but TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms can also connect us with friends, share inspiration, and even spread mental health awareness (see what I did there?).

Social media has a complicated relationship with our well-being. The same apps that provide connection can also fuel comparison, anxiety, and disconnection from real life.

If this topic hits home for you, head to our blog to give it a read. Let me know what you think in the comments!

Hey Nashville! We won’t post on Saturday anymore. Here’s why.

Saturdays are for slowing down, stepping away from screens, and checking in with yourself without pressure.

We want our clients, followers, and our team to have space to rest, reflect, and recharge. Mental health isn’t just about therapy sessions, it’s also about creating space for yourself to just be.

Use today well (we will try):

Notice how your body feels.
Take a few deep breaths or go for a walk.
Do one thing that actually makes you feel good.

We’ll be back tomorrow with fresh content to support your mental health journey.

Many people worry their first therapy session will be nothing but awkward silence.
The reality: therapists know how to guide, ask, and wait without judgment. Often, words come easier than you expect.

If you’ve been considering therapy, know that you don’t have to arrive with the “right” words. Just yourself.
We’ll meet you there.

Follow for more stories about mental health.

If you're looking for a therapist in Nashville, or Tennessee via virtual sessions, we're here to support you. We offer local, sustainable sessions in person and online.

Gratitude is when we recognize the goodness in life and acknowledge that it comes from sources outside of ourselves. Practicing gratitude contributes to our overall wellbeing as humans.

Here are some healthy ways we can implement the practice of gratitude into our lives:

Keep a journal of things you are grateful for
Send a thank you note to someone you are grateful for
Set reminders to pause and reflect on what you are grateful for

How does gratitude serve you?

Our Story

The Cedar Tree story is a story of strength, resilience, and survival in the face of challenge. Much like mental health, actually.

When we bought our house a few years ago, much of the back yard was overgrown with dense brush and vines, so thick and thorny that we couldn’t see through it. We decided to plant a small garden there, and after the winter started clearing the brush. The work was tough, but after a few days we discovered a scrawny little cedar tree, barely alive. It looked almost as bad as Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree. But we carefully cleared around it, gave it a little fertilizer. It started growing. Its color became brighter, its trunk stronger, and the branches spread. With access to light, water, and nourishment, it thrived. In a few months, it looked like a different tree, and now, a few years later, it’s 30 feet tall, symmetrical, lush, and beautiful. People are like that too. Someone fighting stress, anxiety, depression, or other life and mental health challenges may need help. Once the challenges are cleared, we not only survive, we thrive!
