Did you know that about 1.1 million people in the United States are living with Parkinson's disease (PD)? 🌷

🧠 This progressive brain disorder is perhaps most well known for causing tremors, but other symptoms include loss of vocal volume, sleep disruptions, stiffness, and balance issues, among others.

🌟 Another rehab graduate! 🎓

We are so proud of Richard, who came to us after an amputation and has made great strides through physical and occupational therapies. When he started rehab, he was unable to walk, balance while standing, or wheel himself in a wheelchair, and he needed maximum assistance with daily hygiene tasks and moderate assistance with sitting balance, getting in and out of bed and getting dressed. Now he is walking, dressing, and standing with supervision, and he is independent in his hygiene. 🎉

What does Occupational Therapy look like❓

It looks like someone practicing how to button a shirt again. 👔 Rebuilding the strength and dexterity to hold a coffee cup. ☕ Rehearsing the motions to prepare a simple meal and learning to use a reacher to safely pick things up without bending 🫳.

During Occupational Therapy Month, we’re celebrating the amazing therapists who help our rehab patients rebuild confidence, independence, and the skills that make daily life meaningful. 🫶
