Cara Lindell, at our Belle Meade UMC office wrote for the church's blog this week on what we find in ourselves when we are still and quiet. This is a great reflection for those who are participating in Lent this year and a great reflection for anyone who finds themselves too often distracted.

As a therapist, one of my favorite questions is “what happens when you are still?” The answers I receive vary from the feeling of panic, sadness, loneliness, to boredom. What I have yet to hear, is peace and contentment.

We are proud to be a sponsor of Day 7's virtual Self-Care Summit this week. On Thursday, our Director, Chris O'Rear, will present a program called, "Am I Called to be a Human Doormat?" in which he will explore some of the verses from Christian scripture that are often quoted to advocate for self-denial. Tickets for this event and all of the other events Day 7 is offering this week are available on their website at https://www.day-7.org/virtual-self-care-summit/.

Day 7 is a non-profit organization that provides health and wellness services for clergy and non-profit employees.

Our Story

The Counseling Center at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church opened August 1, 2020 as a second office of The Counseling Center at Belle Meade United Methodist Church. Our center is a pastoral counseling center for the entire community. We offer professional pastoral care & psychotherapy services for individuals, couples & families. We welcome people of all faith groups, those who identify with no faith group, and those who have been hurt by their faith group. We seek to make our office a welcoming space for all.
