Most people do not realize they handed their authority over a long time ago.

They just know they second-guess themselves, over-explain, struggle to say no, or feel responsible for keeping relationships stable, no matter the cost to themselves.

A lot of that did not start because something is wrong with you. It started because, at some point, staying connected felt safer than fully being yourself.

This new blog from Indigo Path Collective explores where that pattern comes from, why it continues, and what it means to begin relating to yourself differently.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

Mental and behavioral health impacts every part of our lives.

They affect our relationships, productivity, stress, sleep, nutrition, identity, illnesses, and the ability to keep going in the face of adversity.

That is part of what we mean at Indigo Path Collective when we talk about “Wellness Everywhere.” We must shift our focus to improving wellness at home, at work, and across our communities for all of us.

I also want to thank Ren for being visible about mental health in Hi Ren (link in the comments). The song verbalizes the internal fight far too many of us live with every day, but rarely talk about with anyone.

Doing everything right on the outside, but something still feels off on the inside.

Indigo Path Collective is announcing the release of The Trauma-Informed You: Renewing Your Relationship With Yourself by Dr. Jeremy Henderson-Teelucksingh.

Now available on Amazon in print and Kindle.

This work focuses on how people adapt to stay connected, accepted, or safe and how those adaptations shape the relationship with oneself over time.

From there, the focus shifts to renewal.

At Indigo Path Collective, we are so excited to sponsor this fundraiser in support of Pawster. Not only do we love dogs and drag, but we also know how vital it is to one's mental health to know that someone is there to foster your dogs and cats when tragedy strikes.

Thank you, Pawster, for being such an important part of our Nashville community!

Trauma does not always appear immediately after a difficult experience. Many people notice its effects years later, especially within close relationships. Reactions such as anxiety during conflict, difficulty trusting others, or strong emotional responses can reflect how the nervous system learned to protect itself earlier in life. Understanding this connection can help explain why trauma often shows up in relationships later on.

The only real way to work with other people is to know the people with whom you work.

As a manager, that gets even more complicated because of the number of people you work with and the histories you and your teammates bring to work.

The Trauma-Informed Manager (and the self-paced training of the same name) offers you a perspective on your role as a manager that many organizations miss in their training and development strategies.

This book and the training are expressly not about leadership, which is the ability to get people to follow. This book talks about the roles we play at work as managers who sit between executives and individual contributors.

Now is the right time to take the necessary steps to become a trauma-informed manager.

Childhood experiences shape how adults approach trust, communication, and emotional safety in relationships. Many patterns that appear later in life are connected to early lessons about closeness, conflict, and belonging. Understanding how these early experiences influence adult relationships can help people recognize patterns and begin building healthier connections.
