Trauma does not always appear immediately after a difficult experience. Many people notice its effects years later, especially within close relationships. Reactions such as anxiety during conflict, difficulty trusting others, or strong emotional responses can reflect how the nervous system learned to protect itself earlier in life. Understanding this connection can help explain why trauma often shows up in relationships later on.

The only real way to work with other people is to know the people with whom you work.

As a manager, that gets even more complicated because of the number of people you work with and the histories you and your teammates bring to work.

The Trauma-Informed Manager (and the self-paced training of the same name) offers you a perspective on your role as a manager that many organizations miss in their training and development strategies.

This book and the training are expressly not about leadership, which is the ability to get people to follow. This book talks about the roles we play at work as managers who sit between executives and individual contributors.

Now is the right time to take the necessary steps to become a trauma-informed manager.

Childhood experiences shape how adults approach trust, communication, and emotional safety in relationships. Many patterns that appear later in life are connected to early lessons about closeness, conflict, and belonging. Understanding how these early experiences influence adult relationships can help people recognize patterns and begin building healthier connections.

At IndigoPathCollective, we often work with songwriters, musicians, sound engineers, fiction writers, and other creatives and entertainers, so we were incredibly honored to attend and give to this incredible organization and the people it supports.

Seven years ago, Indigo Path Collective began with a simple belief: relationships matter.

Over the past seven years, we have had the privilege of working with individuals, families, leaders, managers, and organizations who were ready to face difficult realities and create meaningful change in their lives and workplaces.

Along the way, one principle has continued to guide our work.

Healing and growth do not come from quick fixes or surface-level solutions. Real change happens when people are given the space to understand what they have experienced, how it shaped them, and what they want to build next.

That is why our work continues to center on three commitments:
+ Trauma-informed.
+ Insight-oriented.
+ Meaningful change.

Whether through counseling, coaching, or organizational consulting, our goal has always been the same: to support people as they move forward with greater clarity, stability, and intention.

Seven years in, we remain grateful for every person who has trusted us with their story, their leadership, and their work.

Thank you for being part of the Indigo Path Collective community.
Here is to the next chapter.

Many people eventually notice a troubling pattern in their relationships. The people may change, and the circumstances may change, yet certain dynamics seem to repeat. Someone may find themselves repeatedly navigating emotional distance, communication breakdowns, or unbalanced relationships. This experience can be confusing and discouraging, especially for adults who are otherwise thoughtful and capable.

Many people notice the same relationship patterns repeating over time. This article explains how trauma, attachment, and early experiences shape adult relationships.

Check out Dr. Jeremy Henderson-Teelucksingh's feature article in the ACA Counseling Today Magazine, a feature article examining parent abuse as an overlooked form of family violence, offering counselors guidance on recognizing power and control dynamics, addressing provider bias, and supporting parents navigating trauma, stigma, and safety within the parent-child relationship.

Parent abuse is an underrecognized form of family harm that counselors can help bring into the open.
