When should I have tests to screen for cancer?

Cervical Cancer screening from your Primary MD or OBGYN - Age 25

Breast Cancer screening via Mammogram ordered from any Healthcare Provider- age 40

Colorectal and Prostate Cancer in African Americans -age 45. Prostate cancer can be evaluated via blood test from any Health Professional. A Gastroenterologist will perform a Colonoscopy to evaluate Colorectal cancer.

People who currently smoke or formerly smoked should discuss lung cancer screening with a doctor. Discussing prostate cancer screening with a doctor recommended. Age 50

These recommended ages may vary depending on family history and other risk factors.

Yearly screening blood work is recommended to monitor your baseline health.

My visit fee is $75 to order and explain testing, and make a plan for any abnormal values.

Insurance typically covers a basic health panel yearly.

There are local options for lab testing with reasonable pricing. A general health panel for $129. This includes a CBC, CMP, Lipid panel, A1C, and TSH. This will evaluate your blood counts, kidney and liver function cholesterol, blood sugar average and thyroid. Curious about your hormones? A full panel can be tested for around $350.
