♥️Parents, siblings, + caregivers of neurodivergent kiddos and adults: you are seen, you are loved, you are supported.
You may have seen me last night sitting on the dirt-caked floor of the Target exit. You may have seen me occluding the walkway while holding space, yet holding healthy boundaries, for my Autistic child. You may have seen me trying to support my other child as well for 30 minutes while trying to figure out how to best handle this unraveling situation. You may have been the wonderful human with a kind smile that discreetly let me know I was doing a good job (spoiler: I certainly try, but I don’t always do a good job).
I share this to be transparent. To communicate what our heart and soul is at VOCE. To relay why our compassion and empathy run so deep.
This is the EXACT reason why ALL are welcome at our clinic. This includes siblings. This includes large families that feel they may be too loud or too many for a traditional therapy setting. Come on in! You are a functional part of your child’s/sibling’s environment and therapeutic care. We often incorporate siblings into portions of treatment for functional communication interactions! Need to melt into the couch in the waiting area while your child is engaged in a session? Make sure to stop in the kitchen and grab a coffee or seltzer water to maximize your decompression time.
You are seen, you are loved, you are supported. ♥️
P.S. You may be wondering what happened post-Target. Well, I assisted my kiddo in finding a space of regulation. I provided cuddles. I assisted him in utilizing a flexible brain AFTER he was regulated. We left Target and all were regulated… or so I thought. I then proceeded to demolish my rear view mirror on a parking garage pillar whilst backing out after our next errand. 🫠🚙😅
