It’s February. That means it’s officially American Heart Month! ❤️As you may know, heart disease is the #1 killer of women in the US. But did you know that much of heart disease can be attributed to modifiable risk factors, such as high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol levels, smoking, diabetes, being overweight or obese, lack of physical activity, an unhealthy diet, and stress?
The good news is, these are all things we can control by living a healthier lifestyle. Try these heart-healthy strategies to reduce your risk for heart disease:
❤️ Quit smoking and avoid secondhand smoke
❤️ Eat a healthy diet with more fruits and veggies
❤️ Exercise and maintain a healthy weight
❤️ Manage stress
❤️ Avoid or limit alcohol
❤️ Follow your treatment plan, including taking medications as prescribed
❤️ Manage other health conditions, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes
