Rubber Duckie Kickoff: A Celebration and Remembrance of Babies

Join Nashville General Hospital and Meharry Medical Group as we come together to honor and celebrate babies born between November 2025 and November 2026.

Each rubber duck placed in the Bubsy Garden fountain will represent a baby’s journey:

🟡 Yellow – Babies born

🟣 Purple – Babies born prematurely

⚪ White – Babies we lovingly remember

Families are invited to personalize a duck with their child’s name and birthday as we celebrate life, resilience, and community.

🌍 Sustainability in Action!
We’re proud to share that Nashville General Hospital’s Emergency Department has been recognized by Medtronic as a Sustainability Champion for our work in the pulse ox recycling program. Together, we’ve kept hundreds of pounds of waste out of landfills—another step toward a healthier planet for our patients, staff, and community.

As summer comes to a close, we’re reflecting on the incredible moments we’ve shared with our community. From celebrating our staff, to supporting families, to walking for heart health, it’s been a season filled with impact, connection, and gratitude. We celebrated our incredible EVS team for all they do to keep NGH safe and welcoming.

💛Mental Health Cooperative Resource Fair
At the Mental Health Cooperative’s first Resource Fair, alongside Mother to Mother, we provided essential baby items and connected over 400 families to resources.

🩵2025 Heart Walk
We joined the American Heart Association’s 2025 Heart Walk to raise awareness and support heart health.

💛African Street Festival
With our partners Meharry and Matthew Walker, we offered free health screenings and connected with our community at the African Street Festival.

This past weekend, NGH and NHC, along with our partners at CHEN, had a wonderful time providing health screenings at Nashville Life Church. We are always grateful for the opportunity to be out in the community, connecting with individuals and offering resources that support better health and wellness. Every event reminds us of the importance of being present, building relationships, and making healthcare accessible for all. For the month of August, we hosted a hospital-wide Back-to-School Supply Showdown between the East Erasers and the West Watercolors. The East Erasers came out on top with the win, but together as a hospital we collected more than 3,500 items to give back to our valued partners at Bridge Builders.

Bridge Builders Program Inc has been essential in providing support and essential items for our patients who may need assistance after discharge, and we are proud to continue this meaningful partnership.

A huge shout-out to the NGH team for donating and making this drive such a success. Together, we are building stronger bridges and brighter futures.

This past weekend, we were honored to take part in the You Got Next event hosted by the Fisk University, NAACP Nashville Chapter, and WIN. Our Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Team was on site to share resources, connect with students, and remind the community that no one is ever alone.

On Friday, Bridge Builders Program Inc generously donated over 200 toys for our pediatric ED patients, helping make each visit a little brighter and less stressful. This is not the first time they’ve shown up for our patients—they also donated earlier this year in March, and the toys were such a hit with both patients and staff.

We are truly grateful for our partnership with Bridge Builders and their continued commitment to supporting our mission. Their generosity makes a meaningful difference in the care experience for our youngest patients, and we are honored to have them as a part of the NGH family.
