Mission trips always come with unexpected gifts.

We began planning and preparing to travel to Córdoba with an incredible team of board-certified physicians, fellows, residents, medical students, and dedicated volunteers. Just one week before departure, we learned that the anesthesia vaporizers — essential for safely putting patients to sleep — would not be available.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of donors in the United States, we were able to secure a first-class anesthesia vaporizer. That single act of kindness made it possible for the entire team’s work to come to life. It truly meant the difference between going and making an impact… or not going at all.

While we there, I had the privilege of lifting a droopy lid for a young woman who was born with congenital ptosis. After surgery, she surprised me with an unexpected gift and a note in English thanking me for her blessings.

But the truth is — I received the greater blessing.
