That’s why lung cancer screening is so important. Screening can detect cancer early, when it’s most treatable. It’s performed through a low-dose computerized tomography (CT) scan – an X-ray of your lungs that could lead to life-saving care.

Not sure if you should get screened? Follow these guidelines from HCA Healthcare’s Sarah Cannon Cancer Network. If you’re between age 50 and 80 and you meet at least one of the criteria shown here, you’re eligible for a low-dose CT scan. If you have Medicare, you must be 50 to 77 to be eligible. ⭐It's We Show Up Wednesday!⭐ Today, we shine the spotlight on Brian aka 🤖Gigabyte🤖, plant operations coordinator at TriStar Southern Hills.

Brian pays attention to even the smallest details and always communicates during projects. Leaders know they can count on Brian for reliability and follow through, and even his (dry) sense of humor. He's a team player - always willing to jump in and lend a hand to anyone in need.💙

What does Brian like about TriStar Southern Hills? For him, it's about the "family-like environment." He continued, "you know you can go to anyone for support and they will be more than willing to help you."

Last Tuesday, TriStar Century Farms ER saved a patient's life. Skip was in town for a concert from Missouri with his fiancé. While the two were driving on the highway, Skip suddenly realized he couldn't form sentences. While this was Skip's only symptom, it was severe enough to know something was wrong.

Luckily, the couple was only minutes from TriStar Century Farms ER. Skip was able to be seen quickly and administered TPA by the team who knew immediately what was going on despite not exhibiting any other stroke symptoms.

While Skip began feeling better soon after, he was admitted to TriStar Southern Hills as a precaution. After a few nights in the hospital, Skip was discharged with no lasting effects from his stroke.

Skip's story emphasizes the importance of freestanding ERs. Without quick access to TriStar Century Farms ER, Skip may have experienced a different outcome. He was able to be quickly assessed, treated, and transported to our hospital.

We're grateful for our TriStar Century Farms ER team, as well as our new freestanding ER in Nolensville! When minutes matter, emergency care close by makes all the difference.💙

This Veterans Day, TriStar Southern Hills proudly recognizes Gary, critical care manager, and Matt, PCU RN, for their dedication to service—both in uniform and in healthcare.💙

Gary proudly served in the United States Marine Corps Military Police at Camp Pendleton, California. His PCU teammate, Matt, served in the United States Navy at Norfolk Naval Base and Little Creek Amphibious Base.

When asked about how their backgrounds prepared them for careers in healthcare, both mentioned teamwork. Whether serving in the armed forces or taking care of patients, teamwork is critical to success. Learning and respecting each other’s strengths, as well as how to effectively collaborate leads to better outcomes.

Our hearts go out to the Vanderbilt Health family. We are keeping all those affected in our thoughts and prayers.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is deeply saddened to confirm that a Vanderbilt LifeFlight helicopter was involved in an accident this afternoon in Wilson County, TN. Three crew members were on board. Tragically, one crew member lost their life, and two others are in critical condition and receiving care at Vanderbilt University Hospital. No patient was on board at the time of the incident.

Our hearts and deepest sympathies are with our Vanderbilt LifeFlight colleagues, their families, and loved ones during this difficult time.

Dr. Streeter's journey in emergency medicine began as an EMT, where he developed a passion for helping people in critical moments. He went on to earn his paramedic license and worked as a paramedic throughout medical school and residency. Our care philosophy is rooted in HCA Healthcare’s mission that has grounded our organization for almost 60 years: Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.
