HealthPass Partner Spotlight: Compost Nashville

We’re excited to celebrate our HealthPass business partner, Compost Nashville! What started 11 years ago with just two households and a “Compost Camry” has grown into a community movement that has diverted over 12.7 million pounds of food scraps from landfills.

Their impact goes beyond waste reduction—they’re transforming food scraps into nutrient-rich compost that supports local farms, gardens, and schools. Just last month, their efforts made another big difference right here in Middle Tennessee.

We’re grateful to partner with Compost Nashville through HealthPass and applaud their commitment to building a healthier, more sustainable future for our community.

This recognition highlights the dedication and passion of our team, supporters, and community partners who make our mission possible each day.

On November 6, 2025, we’ll gather with fellow nonprofits at the Music City Center for a special luncheon celebrating the extraordinary impact organizations are making across Middle Tennessee. The Salute to Excellence Awards are the largest nonprofit awards celebration in the country, and we are honored to be a part of it!

Journey to Wellness update:

This month’s cooking class was all about fresh flavors! Our guest, Hussein Mahmoud, showed us how to make Middle Eastern dishes with in-season veggies like zucchini, eggplant, and bell peppers. Alongside him, our Registered Dietitian shared tips to keep meals both nutritious and delicious. Participants loved learning new recipes—and especially enjoyed tasting them!

Staff Spotlight: Benita Sanchez, RN

Since 2010, Benita has provided excellent care to Faith Family Medical Center patients with skill, compassion, and dedication.

She shares:

“I love that FFMC allows me to combine my passion for nursing with a team that genuinely cares about our community. It’s very rewarding to work where faith, family, and healthcare come together.”

A Nashville native and Middle Tennessee State University graduate, Benita is bilingual in Spanish and English and is deeply committed to serving our community. Outside of FFMC, she enjoys reading, shopping, cheering on the Nashville Soccer Club, and spending time with her children.

Journey to Wellness update:
We loved hosting Diabetes Day at the beginning of August!

Patients received screenings, nutrition counseling, and one-on-one support, all free for FFMC patients. We host 10 Chronic Disease Days per year-6 are Diabetes Day, 4 are Hypertension Day, to make managing chronic conditions easier and more supportive.

FFMC patients can schedule for the next Diabetes Day and if you have questions, reach out to us anytime.
